Narrator's POV
Camila was ready for her very first date. She was heading downstairs five minutes before the time when she received a call from Timothée. Unfortunately, Timothée had to cancel their date as he was involved in an accident on the way to pick Camila up. He apologized to Camila several times for canceling their date last minute due to the accident. Camila understood. She was more concerned about Timothée well being than the date.
After ending the call, Camila sat on the stairs thinking. She was all dressed up. Her mother was still at the cafe due to a last-minute birthday request. Meanwhile, Lucy was out of the city with her parents. Camila had few other friends, but she rarely went out with them. She stood up and took her car key before heading out. She decided to enjoy her Saturday night by herself.
Camila started her car and went to the city center. She could not have the movie and dinner with Timothée. Camila wanted to cheer herself up. The date was canceled, but the night was still young, and the fun should go on. Camila went to the summer night festival, which just kicked off today same as the summer holiday for students started.
Camila parked her car and joined the crowd. Many people were at the festival, including children, welcoming their summer holiday joyfully. It was a child-friendly festival, and it was also not the full moon. Camila was sure her mother and Lucy should not worry about her, going out in the evening and having fun at the festival by herself.
Enjoying the evening at the amusement park where the festival was, trying some rides, and having some good food, Camila forgot about her little disappointment with her canceled date. When she got her second ice cream for this evening, that weird feeling popped up again. She felt like someone was watching her. She looked around, scanning the crowd, but she saw no one suspicious.
When Camila turned around, she saw someone she wanted to see the least. It was Alexa's fiancée, Lauren. Camila and Lauren's eyes met from a distance. None of them smile, but they hold the staring for a moment. Camila was ready to leave when she saw Lauren wanted to come to her, but Lauren was stopped by her friend, Dinah. Dinah told her to look in the other direction where Alexa and her two friends were walking toward them.
Camila also looked in the same direction and saw Alexa. She thought It was best to leave. Lucy always reminded her to stay away from them. Camila left immediately. She did not bother to look at Lauren, who was looking her way again. Camila decided to go home after knowing Lauren and Alexa were at the festival. She had enjoyed her evening at the festival for about two hours anyway, so she had no problem leaving for home.
.
The next day, the full moon day, Camila only went out in the morning to the Sunday farmers' market with her mother. At the market, Camila saw Lauren again. Their eyes met at a distance, but just as the day before, none greeted each other either with nodes, smiles, or hand gestures. They just looked at each other. Camila felt strange with the way Lauren looked at her.
After returning from the market, Camila did not leave the house. She stayed at home as she did not want to feel that strange feeling again. She did not even go out to the front or backyard of her house. She did not want to have that strange feeling again like the past two full moons. She stayed home to work on her dissertation. In the evening, she had a movie night at home with her mother before ending their night.
The day was almost over. Camila felt glad that she did not feel anything strange on this full moon, except seeing Lauren at the Sunday market. Camila did not put much thought into it, thinking Lauren might like going to the market just like her and the others. She probably just noticed Lauren's presence now because she just knew her recently. Camila shook her head, realizing she had been thinking of Lauren since she settled in her bed. She looked at the beautiful full moon, listening to the music until she fell asleep.
