The sound of incoherent chatter rang in her ears as she took a sip of water from the bottle in her hands. She was walking down the halls with people she wasn't exactly close to, before walking into a very clean, tidy and well-lit studio of a certain radio station she forgot the name of. People with kind faces seated her at the center of the curve of the table, right across from the interview/radio guy. She forgot his name. But, he was a good looking guy, and he had a blue dad cap on his head right beneath the band of his headphones.
Mina, smiling kindly at every person she would make eye contact with, seating herself comfortably in the blue spinney chairs they had. She let her fingers place a pair of headphones at the top of her blonde hair that she had just dyed last week. She was greeted by the interviewer in a very playful way which brought a smile to her face.
They chatted for a while as they waited for the songs that were in queue to be over so that they could get the conversation on air soon. Moments later, the moment has come. With a few clicks of buttons, a bright red dot appeared on one of the monitors, signaling that the station was live.
The interviewer said some very "DJ" things that put a smile to Mina's face, pressing a hand over her mouth to muffle her giggles.
Surprisingly, even though the interviewer asked her some irrelevant questions throughout the entire segment, Mina was amused by his enthusiasm. She found him fun to talk to even though the questions were quite useless. But, it got to a certain point to were one of the questions caused her to get slightly annoyed, which she hid very well under another one of those killer smiles.
"So, recently, you shout a music video in Japan for your new song 'Crazy Stupid Love', yes?" The interviewer asked.
"Yeah. It was a very fun time and I'd love to go back over there anytime. Since it was my hometown." Mina replied.
"Must've been fun. I'm quite jealous," he looked down at the paper he was holding in his hands, "What are your favorite things to do there? Anything that stood out? Or something that you love about going there?"
"Oh, yes, definitely. I don't know if you've ever heard of Wisteria Tunnel, but basically, it's literally just a tunnel with a bunch of flowers cascading over your head. It's one of the prettiest things I've ever seen." The blonde haired girl spoke excitedly, "And of course, I loved the food. The food is to die for. I'd go to my hometown again literally just to eat."
"Oh, yeah? That tunnel sounds amazing. I'll definitely look out for it whenever I visit there. And I bet the food was just as good." He smiled, "Now, let's get to the serious stuff. The music video you shot recently there was filmed by a very young director named Oh Sehun, yes? Founder of SM Productions?"
"Uh, yes, he did." Mina confirmed reluctantly, "He's very good at what he does and we've known each other since our college days. I had an art class with him and he'd always be such a clown in there, but he's good at art, too. I was surprise the first time I saw him as one of the choices for directing music videos. Since then, I kind of chose him to shoot most of my videos alongside Christian Yu from Dream Perfect Regime."
"Ah, you went to the same college as him?" The interviewer raised his eyebrows in curiosity, "Sounds like you've been friends with him for a long time."
Mina giggled as she nodded, "Yeah, it's been a while."
"Are you sure you guys are just friends?" The interviewer tried at her, "You've been spotted recently walking out of a restaurant in the evening by one of your fans in Seoul."
"Ah, yeah," she remembers. "We really are just friends, nothing more, I promise. We were just having a friendly dinner. That doesn't sound that promising but it's really all that it was. We're just really close friends."
And they really were. Ever since college, Sehun had endlessly tried flirting with her but eventually stopped when he realized he didn't stand a chance. But, they turned out to be great friends in the end, with their similarities and all.
"All right," he smiled at her, adjusting his headphones for a moment before asking his next question, "Tell me about your music video. I've watched it a couple times and it was a very cute compilation of videos you shot just roaming around."
"Yes, I was meant to run around like that," she laughs shyly. "As you may have noticed, I run around, play guitar or just sit basically with a smile on my face while being in a very deserted and run-down setting. The song talks about a relationship that isn't going so well but at the other end, one of them just wants to look past everything and the problems they've been through and just stay alongside each other. That's what the setting resembles; it's a symbol of the problems and the ups and downs of the relationship whereas, me, running around being happy and all, wants everything to go smoothly and just work past all of it."
"It's very poetic, yeah. I was surprised listening to how happy it sounded despite the lyrics being a little emotional," he nodded. "I almost cried."
Mina let out a soft giggle.
"All of your songs have been phenomenal and it's caught the eyes of many people out there. All your songs are practically a hit," he says enthusiastically. "I couldn't help but notice, though, that all your songs are quite an emotional ride and romantically directed towards someone. Is that right?"
"Uh, yes. It is."
"Have you ever fallen in love with someone?"
Mina's smile dropped slowly, but she didn't let it falter and brought a new, fresh smile upon her face again, "Yes, I have."
"Is it too much to ask for you to talk about it?" The interviewer asked politely.
The blonde haired girl smiled at his manners and shook her head, "Of course not. I fell in love with someone two years ago, just when I began studying in college. It was a fun relationship. I really cherished it and loved being with that someone."
Mina looked away from the interviewer and stared down at her mic, feeling slight nostalgia rest in her chest as soon as she started thinking about her.
"But, um, some things came up," she says, as her smile fell. "Some things just don't last, I guess. I'm saying this now, only because it's most likely that I probably won't see that person again."
There was a pause. She thought about it for a moment.
"I do wish that they would come back. I miss them. A lot."
"I'm sorry for what you've been through with that person. Hopefully, they hears this," he say sympathetically. "But, I guess we could thank that person for causing you to write the wonderful songs you've released."
Mina let out a laugh, "Ah, yeah, that's accurate."
The interview ended on a very light note. She made her way back to the exit and sat in one of the dressing rooms for the current artists, which was her. Mina sat quietly in her chair, alone in the dressing room, as she sipped her bottle of water, staring at herself in her mirror in front of her.
It had been a while since she had talked about her. She had moved on half a year ago and finally felt happy for herself even if it had hurt her a great deal. Mina often wonders about what she could possibly be doing at the moment; maybe she would be sitting in a club, asking for drinks at the counter, or maybe she would be sitting at home playing with her dog or something, or probably walking out and about, taking photos of whatever was there. It was either one of the three.
Mina remembered the day she had woken up from her comatose two years ago after the incident. She remembered looking for only one person and that was her. But she never came. She waited and waited that day, but she found confirmation the day she was discharged from the hospital, that she had left. It hurt her, badly and deeply. She wanted to be with her, but she wasn't there.
She missed her. She missed her everyday. Everyday since she had left, since then, she has been wishing, waiting, wanting for her to want her back.
But she has grown tired of waiting.
