CHAPTER FOUR
Unaltered Decisions
The following day Dimitri Remirez scoured the school corridors for Juniper. The pain in his abdomen had slowly subsided but some of it still remained and he was wincing from time to time. Remembering that Juniper had told him to meet him by her locker, he turned around and headed in that direction trying as hard as he could to avoid the stares that were being given to him.
The scar on Dimitri's face still looked fresh and harsh and every person that he passed along the corridor stopped whatever they were doing to look at him. Some had pitying looks in their eyes. Maybe they thought he was mourning over losing the love of his life to a total jerk by hurting himself. If they were actual friends of Dimitri they would know better than to assume ludicrous things like that.
Dimitri has tossed and turned around in bed until he finally came up to a conclusion and made up his mind about this plan of Juniper's. He was not taking part in it.
He had no idea what Juniper had in store and this girl had recently started booming with surprises. What if she planned something in this revenge that Dimitri did not approve of? In that moment he may have not liked Amanda Obereen for breaking his heart but he would never do anything to hurt her, whether it be physically or emotionally.
He walked along the corridor and when he spotted her by her locker, his heart deflated. She was not alone.
Dimitri wanted to avoid awkward situations and so he was half turned around ready to leave. Unfortunately, Juniper had already seen him and started to wave him over. He let out a sigh. He had no choice, really. Juniper was bubbling with excitement and Dimitri knew why. He hated himself for being the person who was about to break that little bubble of hers.
"Hey," he greeted as he looked at Juniper and gave her companion a nod of acknowledgement. When he looked at her face he was unable to muster any words. Amanda Obereen looked devastated but beautiful at the same time.
"Hey-lo," Juniper chirped with a smile on her face before she frowned as she noticed the sudden tensed atmosphere. "Oh," was all she could say.
Amanda looked at Dimitri and almost immediately her face fell as her eyes glazed over Dimitri's new scar. She looked sad and looked like she was about to cry. She knew. Dimitri knew that she knew. Words didn't have to be spoken for Amanda to understand how he had gotten that scar and who gave it to him. This would have been the time when Amanda would pull him into a cuddly, bear hug and kiss the living daylights out of him. She would try anything to subside his pain and in that moment Dimitri knew she would not do anything to comfort him. She would not even touch him. And, truthfully, he hated her for that.
