CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Unfathomed Wisdom

Seated in Connor's Corner, a café Juniper Stauff had grown to love over the years, she was bored out of her mind. She had a date with Jeremy Cox. It wasn't actually a date. Jeremy wanted to hang out with Juniper but Juniper liked to think that it was a date.

He was running late. Half and hour late. With nothing better to do than just sip at her tea she averted her gaze outside the big window and watched the people pass by. It was half an hour past five and the streets were busy; cars moving to and fro, people walking in a rush so they could reach the safety and comfort of their homes to relax in after a day's long worth of work.

While waiting for Jeremy, Juniper decided to occupy her mind with university choices. She had always wanted to study Chemistry and with graduation soon approaching she found it fitting to go university hunting. All she knew was that most of her classmates intended to go to the University of Sereneigo and while it was quite a prestigious university filled with every course a student would desire to take, she wanted to be far away from all of this. She wanted to start over. She wanted another shot at life. Starting over in a completely new place, surrounded by completely new people, seemed like the perfect opportunity and Juniper had to take a hold of it before it slipped right through her fingers.

A hand tapped her shoulder and her head shot up as she was pulled out of her reverie. A smile took over her pink lips as she looked at the man that stood before her. His blonde hair was stuck in a red cap and, some of his hair spilling out over his ears and at the base of his neck. He had on plain black jeans which he had paired with an odd shirt. It had the words Pizzeria Kingdom written across it - sort of like what the waiters and waitresses at Pizzeria Kingdom wore.

He slid into the seat opposite of hers, his smile matching hers as his eyes held an apologetic look. "I'm so sorry I'm late. I forgot to tell you that I have work," he said sounding out of breath, "I actually ran most of the way. Well, walked but walking is so much exercise."

A soft chuckle left Juniper's lips. His words had managed to put a smile on her face. It took a little to no convincing to get Jeremy's number from Charlie. Charlie didn't mind that his brother and the girl that wasn't on his most liked list at that moment were hanging out. In fact, it made him happy that his brother had found someone to bond with with and he did not care if that person was one that he liked or not. All he cared for was his brother's happiness - he always had cared.

"I didn't know you started working," Juniper said.

"I was actually filling in for someone about a week ago for old times sake and apparently they missed my charm because it brought more customers, never mind the fact that they had always been mostly girls. So I'm rehired now." The smile on his lips radiated warmth and happiness and Juniper was filled with a sudden glow. It pleased her to see Jeremy like this. She was not quite over his drastic change. He was much nicer, kinder and quite different. However, Juniper knew that he didn't entirely change. His dark character was hidden beneath the fake smiles and Juniper saw it shimmer on the surface.
