Silent Water

'Please do not make me a problem.'
I begged you.
'You're the problem yourself.'
You answered.
For barely a moment, I forgot my chaos.
The beauty of the silent water,
That soundless lake made me think.
But it's all back in my mind.
My gaze straightened, unclear once again.
'You're whining, refusing.
Weren't you listening again?'
Sure I was. I told you my thoughts.
Did you ever listen?
But you see me as the unsure sea.
Dangerous, temperamental, calm on some good days.
But I do not want to be the sea.
I want to be the lake.
That one is deep, that's for sure,
And you'll find life there at its grounds.
But there is silence. The water is crystal clear.
It is safe.
It is freedom.
It is home.
It is calm.
Please do not make me the sea.
I want to be the LAKE.
