The boys wandered around the bare rented townhouse, looking for something that could be used to stall time because neither of them wanted to make the effort to unpack all their supplies for the party that was happening the following day.

"Soooo.." Jerome stalls, looking over to the ginger haired boy sat opposite him on the cold laminate flooring of the kitchen, "Got any hookup ideas for the party?"

"Nope, not really had a chance to give it a thought." That's a lie, it's been playing on his mind since the party was announced.

Obviously his original plan was to go with Cindy, since they were still together at the time it was announced, but after they broke up she was out of the question and he certainly wanted nothing to do with her after the messy breakup.

Granted, the couple were barely a couple to begin with. They rarely saw eachother, never had sex and only had kissed a couple times. But still, cheating sucks and a breakups a breakup which left poor Monty with his heart shattered.

Jerome nodded and there was silence for a while, it wasn't awkward but it was not exactly comfortable. The nerd broke the silence and the tension eased by teasing the brunette, "Are you finally gonna work up the courage to ask Diana out?" He mocked.

"I don't know, it's nervewracking man. I get so anxious around her!" He uses his classic excuse to get himself out of the situation he's been avoiding for the past few months, "I mean, even if I did go up and ask, it's not like I could actually talk-"

Monty cackled, "This is why you're never gonna get a chance with her, You're a dick bro!" He threw his head back in laughter which caused the other boy to scowl and walk away, leaving the ginger giggling to himself.

After many apologies from Monty to Jerome, the two finally began unpacking the supplies for the party. It wasn't too tedious of a task like the two were expecting, and them cracking jokes every once in a while helped ease the air.

Finally, when they finished sorting all the drinks and food away in their designated places they collapsed onto the large sofa that took up majority of the space inside the small townhouse.

Comfortable silence filled the air for a change, both of the boys were exhausted from carrying box after box of various assortments of drink from Monty's dad's moving van all the way up the steep stairs into the house.

As the two sat soaking up each others presence, Monty was left some time to think to himself.
In all honesty, Monty was shit scared for the party. He had no idea who he was gonna talk to, he didn't want to talk to Jerome because he is fucking horrendous to have a conversation with when drunk. He had no idea if Cindy was going to show up and who her chosen boyfriend of the day would be, but his main worry wasn't about Cindy; it was about Carla.

He'd never paid much attention to her before, the only time he could remember is when he got transferred to Carla's Kindergarten and he saw her for the first time, when he saw her sneak that firecracker past Penny, he felt something. He didn't know what the feeling was but he knew it was good. He smiled, reminiscing the moment of the times when the two were younger, when times were simpler.

The ginger couldn't remember the last time he saw Carla at a party, nevermind one organised partly by her ex-boyfriend. He was shocked that she was invited to this one after her and Felix's breakup; Although she did say they left it on good terms, but how much of that could he believe? It's not like he'd tell her if they weren't on good terms.

Would she?

"Monty, Monty!" Jerome clicked his fingers frantically infront of Monty's eyes.

"Huh? What?" Monty snapped out of his train of thought and looked up at the boy above him.

"You were daydreaming." Jerome answered simply.

"Rude of you to stop my train of thought." He sneered.

"Sorry not sorry." The taller boy smiled and went to sit down next to the ginger.

"Jerome?" Monty asked, keeping his eyes on the carpet.

"Yeah?" Jerome looked at the fair-skinned boy.

"Can I ask you something?" He looked towards his best friend.

"Sure man, go ahead." The boy smiled.

"Do you think I have a chance with C-"

ring ring!

Both of the boys' attention darted to Jerome's phone, that was blaring his annoying ringtone from across the room. He groaned and walked over to the kitchen island where the phone laid.

"Shit I've got to take this, sorry man." He pulled the phone up to his ear, "Hello?"

A female voice answered in Spanish on the other side.

"Carla! ¿Qué pasa?"

And with that the Spanish boy began to walk away as to keep his and his close friends conversation somewhat private and somewhat away from the freckled boy.

Monty cursed under his breath. The timing of the phone call was unnerving. He shuddered whilst trying to think of something other than the Latina his best friend was chatting away to.

After what felt like an eternity, Monty could just make out Jerome saying his fairwells to Carla and ending the phone on her, his theory was proven when he heard rapid footsteps on the stairs and his friend poke his head around from the stairwell.

"Sorry about that bro." Jerome chuckled and sat in his spot from earlier.

"What did Carla want?" Monty asked, half wanting to know the answer and half wishing he didn't ask.

"Oh nothing important, she was just telling me how Nugget planned this massive thing to ask Lily to be his date to the party. It was quite cute really, he started by-"

Monty let his thoughts drown Jerome out, not on purpose but mostly because all he could think about was Carla, although part of him really didn't care at all.

Maybe it was a sign for him to ask Carla to the party? No, way too quick Monto, that would be a great way to scare the girl off! Idiot. He cursed himself for the stupid thought he just considered and tried to think of another explanation before he was rudely cut short once more by Jerome.

"And then Nugget- Hey! Are you even listening?" Jerome cocked his head to the side and Monty regained his consciousness.

"Wha? Oh, yeah sorry." The boy replied

"What did I just say then?" Jerome folded his arms in disappointment.

"Something about Nugget's proposal to Lily..?" Monty half smiled and Jerome flopped further down the sofa, to the point where he was nearly falling off.

"Whatever, it doesn't matter." He sulked.

Silence filled the room once more.

"Oh yeah, what was it you wanted to ask again?"

"Don't worry about it."
