Jihoon (age: 4)
Jihoon had to move from Busan to Seoul at the tender age of four because of his father's job transfer. Despite the significant change, Jihoon didn't utter a single complaint to his parents about relocating to a new city and leaving behind his old friends. Instead, he adapted quickly to the bustling metropolis of Seoul, displaying a remarkable resilience for a child his age.
Naturally a homebody, Jihoon rarely had playmates back in Busan, a fact that always worried Mrs. Lee. Yet, she cherished her son deeply and understood his introverted and shy nature, likely because she shared those same traits.Though she hoped the move to a bustling city like Seoul would help Jihoon open up and make new friends, she remained empathetic to his quiet personality, offering him comfort and support through every transition.
In an effort to help Jihoon make new friends, Mrs. Lee decided to take him to the nearest park. The move to their new home took them two exhausting days to complete, during which Jihoon was remarkably well-behaved, never once troubling his mother with complaints or demands. It seemed as though he innately understood the difficulties she was facing and wanted to lighten her burden. To reward his remarkable patience and understanding, Mrs. Lee planned to take him to the park that very day, hoping he would find new companions and enjoy some much-needed playtime and laughter amid the greenery and fresh air.
The doorbell suddenly chimed in, startling Mrs. Lee out of her thoughts. She sighed lightly, glancing around the serene, quiet house before heading towards the door. Jihoon, her young son, trailed behind her with his beloved brown teddy bear clutched tightly to his chest. Curiosity lit up his eyes as he peeked around his mother, eager to discover the source of the unexpected interruption. As Mrs. Lee opened the door, they were met with the sight of a smiling woman holding a plate of freshly baked apple pie, the delicious aroma wafting gently into their home. "She is smiling from ear to ear," little Jihoon observed with wide-eyed wonder, enchanted by both the warm smile and the promise of the sweet treat.
The woman introduced herself warmly as their new neighbor, Mrs. Kwon.Mrs. Lee, feeling a flicker of relief that someone else took the first step since her own introverted nature would make it difficult for her, responded as warmly as she could with a friendly smile. They exchanged greetings and a good amount of laughter before she looked down at her son, who was tugging on the hem of her simple cream gown. Encouragingly, she nudged small Jihoon gently, urging him to introduce himself to the kind new neighbor.
With a shy glance up at Mrs. Kwon, Jihoon managed a meek but polite "Hello, I'm Jihoon," which brought a sparkle of delight to Mrs. Kwon's eyes. Relief washed over the small boy as he flashed a wide grin, adding, "I'll be five this year." Mrs. Kwon cooed with delight at Jihoon's cuteness. Just then, another small figure stepped out from behind Mrs. Kwon-his presence unnoticed till now. It was a boy, slightly taller than Jihoon, who had been hiding shyly behind his mother. Mrs. Kwon fondly ruffled her son's hair, smiling with pride.
