It was late. Turquoise had just finished his gig when his phone started ringing
"Go for Turquoise. Here and listening, may I ask who's speaking?" Turquoise picks up his phone
"Turquoise, it's Garnet, it's Peridot..." Garnet says through the phone with a slight worried tone
"Everything alright?" He asks, sitting on the front of his car
"...they where in an accident head to the hospital now!" Garnet yells through the phone
Turquoise quickly hangs up and gets in his car and speeds through traffic
"C'mon!"
Turquoise eventually gets to the hospital, not even stopping the engine of his car. He just kicks the door open and runs in to see Garnet and Amethyst
"Where are they?" Turquoise asks, breathing heavily
"They're in surgery..." Garnet answers
"How... How'd it happen?" Turquoise asks, sitting on a chair in disbelief
"Drunk driver. They were out getting some things for the house. " Garnet sits next to Turquoise
Turquoise's skin gets pale even for his unnaturally pale skin, and his pupil gets less dilated
"T. You alright, man?" Amethyst asks
Turquoise's leg begins repeatedly tapping up and down
"I don't... do well in hospitals, " Turquoise says with a slight stutter
"Where's everyone else?" Turquoise asks
"Keeping Steven occupied," Garnet smiles and puts her hand on Turquoise's shoulder
A doctor comes up to the group
"Great. I'm Dr. Maheswaran, Peridot is just out of surgery. "
"How bad is it, Doc?" Turquoise asks
"We have had to amputate their leg," Dr. Maheswaran says honestly
"How much of it!?" Amethyst asks
"Woah, calm down. We had to amputate just the foot. We were able to save the rest of the leg, and they sustained multiple injuries. " Dr. Maheswaran explains
"May we see them? Turquoise asks
"They're barely awake, but sure, just follow me," Dr Maheswaren
Turquoise stands up
"I'll wait here." Garnet smiles
Turquoise and Amethyst nod as they follow Dr Maheswaran to a room
"Hey, P.dot, how you feeling?" Amethyst leans against the doorframe
"Fuzzy," Peridot says quietly to their selves
"Really?" Amethyst asks, sitting on the side of the bed
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Peridot asks Turquoise
"Came to see you," Turquoise smiles
"You look funny," Peridot says
"She's on pain meds they'll be a bit loopy," Dr Maheswaran says
Turquoise places his hands on the rail of the bed. "That bad, huh? I leave for a few hours, and you go and get yourself crippled." Turquoise jokes
"Psssst Amethyst, who's the hot guy?" Peridot puts their hand beside their mouth and whispers to Amethyst
"Your boyfriend," Amethyst skickers
"Whaaaaat?! Boyfriend?!" Peridot looks at Turquoise excitedly
"Yep, that's me." Turquoise smiles and holds Peridot hand
"Wow! Lucky me!" Peridot throws their arms into the air weakly
Turquoise combs his hand through Peridot's hair
"My toes feel funny." Peridot laughs a little to herself
"Which ones?" Dr Maheswaran asks
Peridot wiggles their left leg, the leg without a foot. "These ones!"
"Phantom limb syndrome, you're fine. How about we give you two some privacy?" Dr Maheswaran indicates to the door
"See you soon, alright P?" Amethyst smiles
"Pffffffft" Peridot blows raspberries
"Need anything?" Amethyst asks Turquoise
"Hmmmm-" Turquoise thinks as Peridot sits up
"Music!" Peridot yells and throws themselves back on the bed
"There's an acoustic guitar in the passenger seat of my car," Turquoise says
Amethyst and Dr. Maheswaran walks out, leaving Turquoise and Peridot alone in the room.
Amethyst comes back shortly with Turquoise guitar before leaving again
"What music do you want?" Turquoise asks
"This might be the drugs talking, but how about something country?" Peridot says, looking turquoise in the eye
"Folkie, hmmm, I know one country song," Turquoise plucks a few strings
"Ooo, what one?" Peridot asks
"I went to the well by Half Moon," Turquoise answers
"♫ I went to the well, but the rim was dry, Where did she go, that girl of mine? ♫"
"♫ Looked for her, and I looked inside and saw the life I’d like to hide. Well, I found myself on the edge of a cliff. ♫ "
Turquoise sung gently, plucking his guitar as Peridot listens with their eyes closed slightly
"♫ Tried to take the pain and get my throat cut. But I missed her so much, my sweet Mrs And my rotten feet just wouldn’t budge ♫ "Turquoise sings
"♫ So I took my axe and cut down that tree Where we had once begun And I swore to God from that day forth That I’d never hold a gun ♫"
"♫ Cause if I did, they’d lock me up, and I would surely run. Killed so many in your name girl That I’d never see the sun ♫"
"♫ Was invited down to hell, Drank from his glass, it felt just fine A I asked him where’s that girl of mine? The devil just smiled and left me behind ♫"
"♫ I smiled back and finished my beer And said adios, I didn’t shed any tears, Joy descended but the flames are around, Well and that devil he sure likes to gamble I tried to stand tall And knock down that big old wall I tried to stand strong ♫"
"♫ But courted death all along I tried to stand tall And knock down that big old wall I tried to stand strong But courted death all along ♫" Turquoise closes the song gently strumming his guitar and notices Peridot snoring
Turquoise places his guitar down beside him before leaning over the bed and resting his head in his arms
