POV: Adlynn
I poofed to Lukes, parents house. he's waiting outside the door like they'll answer it. I walk up to him without him realizing. "Luke.." I whisper. he looks at me with a small jump, not expecting me. "what are you doing here? how did you know I was going to be here?" Luke asks. "you really thought we didn't know where you were going all the time?" I ask.
he looks down like he's ashamed. I put my hand on his shoulder. "Luke, we are here for you. you can always talk to me." I reassure him. he nods. "c'mon, they aren't answering the door any time soon." I say before grabbing his hand and pulling him through the door.
we see is mom walking to the kitchen. "do you normally just stand in front of the door?" I ask. "I- uhm.. sometimes." he says, embarrassed. we walk into the kitchen. Luke gets up on the counter and sits there with his knees to his chest. I sit in front of him my legs hanging over the side and facing the window.
Luke's eyes were red as he sat there and watched his parents finished decorating his birthday cake. I look out the window and see Julie, Alex, and Reggie hiding behind bushes. I look back at Luke. "I can... I can go if you'd like. give you some privacy?" I ask. he sniffs and sighs before answering my question.
"no, no. you can stay. you were always here to celebrate my birthday before..." He trails off. "its okay, I understand." I smile slightly as him. we watch his parents set the table as another tear rolls down his cheek. They bring out his favorite, chocolate cake.
Luke slowly gets off the counter as his parents sit down at the table. his dad lights a candle, a blue candle, Luke's favorite color. Luke blows it out, making a wish and also making his dad relight the candle. Luke then sits down and I stand behind him.
for a while I've been thinking about telling his parents that he comes here. maybe giving them "unsaid Emily." but I didn't want disrespect Lukes privacy. Luke's dad and mom hold hands as they blow out the candle together. I can feel my eyes tearing up as Luke sighs. wishing he could spend his birthday with them, actually with them.
Luke gets up and walks out the kitchen, I follow him out and he just stands there. holding back tears. "Luke.. i- uh. I know you said to not get you any presents but.." I say, grabbing something out of my bag. he looks at my hand, shocked to see a CD that says "Sunset Curve" on it.
"what song is it?" he asks. "Unsaid Emily." I answer. "but we never recorded?" he says confused, but thankful as he grabs the CD out of my hand and exams it. "I might have secretly recorded it as we rehearsed all those years ago." I say, proudly.
"Adie, thank you.. so much." Luke says. "your welcome." I respond before he pulls me into a hug. I hug back and we stay there for a minute. "we should go back, it's been a little while." I suggest. he nods and we poof to the studio.
Luke lands on a chair and then immediately stands up again when he sees Julie. "whoa, Julie." "Grab your guitar. we've got work to do." Julie says, smiling. i walk up to her, standing next to her. "you guys suck at hiding, hope you know that." I whisper to her and she smiles and shakes her head.
Luke grabs his guitar. she stands up as Luke stands in front of us. "what made you come back?" he asks. "I realized how important music is to all of us. and we've lost so much already. we can lose this too." she says. "thanks." Luke whispers.
"all right, boss. where we at?" He asks. (AHHHHH AHEUBS THE WAY. THE WAY HE SAYS THAT OML. okok sorry but STILL.) "oh, and by the way, Happy Birthday." Julie says. Luke looks to the guys then back at Julie back away to his spot.
"lets go from the pre-chorus." Julie says. "one, two, three, four" Alex starts, as he clashes his drum sticks together. they practiced for a while until it was night fall. Julie was tired and wanted to rest for a bit before they go and preform. I stayed back with the guys.
