~SINCLAIR~

"What is happening to me?"

After that first climax, she'd come back into herself, staring blankly at the space beyond his shoulders. He came up from beneath her, sitting at the edge of the bed instead. If he'd thought her smell was everywhere before, now, the room was drenched with it.
And for the life of him, he couldn't bring his heartbeat under control.

She wasn't looking at him. This wasn't the joyful intimacy he'd been hoping for, but he was not disappointed at the outcome. She may regret it, but that was a bridge he'd cross later. All he could think about was that he'd just brought his mate to completion. There was no way to get over that.

"Vannie?" he called gently, needing her eyes on him. "Are you alright?"

"Why did you-"

Why did you do that? she'd been about to ask. But his female was a woman of honor. She wouldn't say it, knowing she was the one who had initiated their intimacy, no matter how out of her mind she'd been.

"Vannie," he repeated, rather stupidly. And that was it. He had nothing else to say. Just when the silence had dragged long enough and he absolutely had to scramble for something to fill in the silence, the scent of fresh arousal hit him.

"Sin." Her voice rose with panic when she realized it was repeating itself. She began to move her thighs again each other again, this time fiercer than the last. "Sin, do something."

She crawled closer to him, moving her lips against the skin on his neck, making him harder than he'd ever thought possible. Come take what's yours, he wanted to tell her. Use it. Use me.

He tugged her to him till she was straddling his thighs. She immediately began grinding on him. His answering moan had to have travelled across the Inlands.

He flipped her over and went straight to easing her robe open and underthings away from her. His mate was completely naked underneath it - a scene he was sure the Omega servers had prepared because Vannie must have been too out of it to undress herself.

She was completely stunning, everything that was his dream and fantasies and the object of his agony, but he didn't stop to savor the moment.

Gods. She was so wet.

This time, as he bent down to touch his mouth to her, her taste was his redemption. How could he recover from this? How could he go back to where he couldn't hold her for fear that she'd hate him?

"Sin."

She came, rapid and hot, against his tongue the second it made contact with her sex. He lapped and lapped and she kept going and there was nothing that could possibly be this sweet. Nothing.

There was no interval between this climax and her next arousal. She was dragging his head back to her sex, undulating against his mouth again.

"More, more."

So he gave her his fingers, and brought her to completion again and again with his fingers and tongue and teeth and she hated him, she hated that she had to be this way, even as she loved it, loved him. He could feel each emotion rushing through her because they were connected now. And he kept at it till she pushed his head away with weak hands and collapsed into sleep.

He wanted to go behind her and wrap her into himself till he fell asleep, too. He wanted her to come awake wanting, wanting his body and everything he had to give her. He wanted so much, it made his head swim.

He went out of her chambers, charging back to the Great Hall where the Inlanders he was supposed to hold court with were gathered. He knew exactly what - or whom - he smelled like, and that was what kept him sane. For now.

It was like he'd entered heat with her, but his was a unique brand of torture that made him want to show everyone else that she'd claimed him. Him. Not anyone else.

The fifty or so Inlanders fell to their faces when they saw him, and for the first time since he'd met Vannie, that was precisely where he wanted them. "How many males smelled the Queen when she went into heat? I want them all beheaded."

A small gasp went through the group, although it was not one of surprise. This didn't even scratch the surface of the things he'd ordered in his blind rage sometimes.
"Your Majesty, there were no Keepers near the apothecary. They'd known the Queen didn't want them around."

"Then kill the females," he growled, and collapsed into his throne. It was unbefitting that the Inlanders saw their King like this, but he'd come so thoroughly undone, he couldn't even stop to bother about what he looked like.

He just wanted some people dead.

"Your Majesty," a collective howl came from the assembly, dragging some sense back into him.

He was not the only one the Queen's heat would affect. The Inlanders were already hoping she could join the pack link fully, and now she was giving them hope that she could mate with the King and give them a complete rulership.

They were worried about her, he realized. That, if not anything else, made him relax a little. He asked in the most calm tone he could muster at the moment, "What are you here for?"

They were unsure about proceeding after his mindless tirade earlier, but they pushed on, nonetheless.

"We're here to give progress report about the state of the walls."

"You didn't need to ask me to hold court," Sin replied tiredly. "You could have just sent Greer to channel me an image. I'd have come to check it myself."

'After my mate's heat' was the unspoken clause, but everyone already knew that.
"Greer's mate is on bed rest. Her labor date is near."

Ah. Sin nodded for them to continue, not hearing or seeing a thing. The Zhodian heat period usually lasted for three to four days, unlike the Inlander heat period that lasted a full week. That was three days of Vannie needing pleasure that was enough to keep her sated and weak for a while till the next wave hit.

Sin didn't know if he would be able to survive it.

A/N:
I wasn't going to say anything, but-

This book is unedited. I put this disclaimer at the beginning of the book so whoever finds grammatical errors off-putting can know to stay away (or be aware, at least.) This book was written almost three years ago when I was eighteen, and I haven't touched it since. Of course, there are errors and inconsistencies.

I know there are people that find typos irritating, and that's absolutely okay. But there's no use correcting my grammar in the comments when IT'S CLEARLY MARKED AS AN UNEDITED BOOK. Be kind, plis. ✌️
