Backstory: In response to Salem and her ever growing threat of her Grimm army, Ironwood decided to use the Relic of Creation to make the best answer to the problem behind Ozpin's back. He asked Ambrosius to create the ultimate being that possesses magic and provided materials to do so. The materials were DNA samples of the Drakens (They are Hedgehog Faunus in this), DNA samples of the Calaveras, DNA samples of the two legendary huntsmen Sonic and Shadow, and every single type of Dust. Ambrosius did as Ironwood requested and Project Shadic was created. For her safety and those around her, Ambrosius also created Inhibitor Rings on her as she has such raw power that must be contained and still lacks the intelligence to use it. Pietro volunteered to raise her until she was ready. Five years later, Ironwood took Shadic for testing and indoctrination. Pietro vehemently protested due to her being too young but was simply ignored. A few months later, he found out that Ironwood was experimenting on Shadic. Shadic was sent back to Pietro and got to meet Penny as the three had the time of their lives. But it sadly came to an end as Shadic was once again taken by Ironwood and subjected to intense training and missions. Before more damage could be done to her by Ironwood, an owl Faunus named Longclaw took Shadic away from Atlas and went to a world similar to Remnant where magic exists. Shadic lived with Longclaw until a tribe of echidna Faunus came after them for her powers. Longclaw sent Shadic back to Remnant while sacrificing herself. Shadic lived in hiding and drastically changed her appearance to hide from Atlas. She watched other people's lives from the shadows and felt alone. One night, her emotions got out of control and she caused a massive blackout. This causes Shadic to be chased by Dr. Eggman until she was found by Jaune. After learning about her past, getting back her rings, and sending Eggman away, Jaune took Shadic to his home where he lived with his wife Pyrrha. It was then that Shadic was adopted and became a member of their family. But a few years later, Eggman returned with an echidna Faunus named Knuckles who was from the same tribe and after Shadic. Shadic meets a two tailed fox Faunus named Tails and learns from Longclaw's projection that she was sent back to Remnant to protect a powerful gem called the Master Emerald. It was a race to see who would get to the Master Emerald first. After Eggman betrays his ally and gets the Master Emerald, Shadic, Tails, and Knuckles team up to fight him before defeating him. But they had a feeling their battle with the evil genius was far from over. After Tails and Knuckles became family members, Jaune decided to properly train the three Faunus and enroll them into Beacon Academy so they would see what a school's like and prepare them for the rest of Remnant. He also gave them names to hide their true names from both Atlas and Eggman if he ever made a return; Jaune named them Sapphire, Topaz, and Garnet. When going to Beacon with Topaz and Garnet, Sapphire learned that Pietro and Penny left Ironwood and hid in Vale under the protection of Ozpin who hopefully wished for the three Faunus to become symbols of hope. Pietro had opened up a new workshop in Beacon, earning income for weapon upgrades and repairs while Penny was Glynda's assistant to help run Beacon without difficulty.

Other: Sapphire's tomboy enough to wear a suit/tuxedo. Winter is Sapphire's big sister figure who left Ironwood and became general of G.U.N. Sapphire actually managed to train Ruby in hand-to-hand combat. In Volume 3, Watts revealed her true identity to Ironwood. She became G.U.N.'s top agent.
