you say
cleanliness is next to godliness
and I say instead
poetry is next to godliness
this prose
these words
these feelings
these emotions
these broken lines and hard stops
rhythms and rhymes and haikus
a whole entire world in just a few
a whole entire world
that's what lives in these lines
every word paints me
paints my flesh
paints my words
here I'm seen
here I matter
here my rhyme and my clatter
have depth and have substance
have weight and have measure
and what's more godly than that
