Call me Not-Rapuzel
For I often feel stuck in a tower
The day, mine to do with as I please
Yet this High up off the ground
I've never once felt at peaceI awake in the morning
Golden rays accompanied by my dreams
But like a chain clasped to my feet
They may never, ever take wingGothel lurks amoung the shadows
Although shes never been alone
For her every thought and every word
Is whispered in every eye I've ever knownSo yes, you can call me Not-Rapunzel
Because foolishly I'll wait
Day in and day out
I'll always seem to take the bait"You simply cannot do that"
"That just isn't what is done"
"You will never make it out there
Silly child, Not on your own"I am Not-Raphael
Yet, I'm still Wishing on a star
I know the freedom for which I yearn
Will not ever be in my reachOnly a prince can offer solace
Only he can rewrite my days
Only he can break this cycle
It is he on whom I waitSo yes, I am Not-Rapunzel
My feet are free to roam
But only as far as allowed
And only if controlledI am Not-Rapunzel
And One day I will be saved
By either death or accompanied fate
If not soon, then I'm afraid,Will he want what remains
Will he just want to turn the page.-M.A.
