( time skip : of about a year )

It was the day that Kayden was dreading, the day he never thought would come. He knew it was coming, but he wasn't physically or mentally prepared for this. The day that the doctor called him and told him that they had done everything in their power, but she was gone. He would never hear her laugh anymore, never see her smile, ever again. He wasn't ready to lose the person he cared and loved the most in this world, but the day was here, and he had to go and start making preparations. He was sitting at the kitchen table with the boys in the living room, when he got the devastating phone call. The phone call that  broke him. All he could do at that moment was drop the phone on the floor and fall to the floor himself. He didn't hear Jayce come in, he didn't hear a single word Jayce said to him as he got pulled into Jayce's arms. Everything was a blur, all he could do in that moment, was sit on the kitchen floor, curled up in Jayce's arms, crying.

Jayce picks up Kayden's phone and sets it on the island, before he pulls Kayden to a standing position, letting Kayden lean on him.

"Come love" Jayce says as he leads Kayden to the bedroom "Just take a moment here alone to grieve, I'll be back. I'm going to go make you some coffee, and bring you a small snack and then we can talk. Or more like you can talk. I will just be here to listen, tell me whatever you need to, okay?" Kayden nods his head not being able to form words, as he watches Jayce walk out of the room.

He doesn't know how long Jayce was gone for, but when he comes around, he sees a small plate covered in aluminium to keep the food warm,  sitting on the bedside table, and a coffee in a thermos as well. He smiles as he stands up walking into the living room, seeing Jayce on the couch fast asleep. Kayden leans down, kissing Jayce's cheek softly. The blue eyes that Kayden has fallen in love with, open slowly as he smiles up at him.

"Oh hey babe" Jayce says as he gets into an upright position, "I didn't want to wake you! How are you feeling?"

"Honestly" Kayden sighs as he wipes at his face. He knew for a fact that he looked like a mess, his hair was dishevelled and his eyes were puffy and red, and he had red blotches all over his face, from the amount of crying he did "A little better, but I don't know what to do now"

"Grieve" Jayce responds "That is all you can do right now. Yes, you can start doing preparations for the funeral, and get stuff ready, but you need to grieve. That is what will heal you, and you take as much time as you need. I'm here for you, always, for your ups and down through this rough time. The boys are here, and you know that the guys are here too, even if we don't see them as much. They all love you, and if you gave them a ring, they would come see you in a heartbeat."

Jayce knew exactly what Kayden was going through. When he lost Bree, he thought that his life was over. He was closest to Bree, they did everything together before she got enlisted. And when the phone call came that fatal night, that they couldn't find her, he lost it. He still grieved her to this day, but he has moved on, knowing that nothing could be done to bring her back. It was tough, but he couldn't let his depression win, that was what almost pushed him over the edge a few years ago, to end it all. It was just as bad when he lost his father, and he still cries at three in the morning when he goes to the bathroom, because he misses them dearly. But they're both watching over him and the family, and will always be with them, even if it isn't physically, but he knows that they are still here. When he was grieving his losses,  he had a group of people that supported him, behind him and that was what pulled him through. And now he knew that he needed to be here for Kayden. Kayden needed him more than ever, and he was never going to let Kayden go through anything alone ever again.

"I love you" Kayden breathes as he gives a sloppy kiss to Jayce cheek, earning a giggle from him

"I love you more. Forever and always" Jayce responds as he pulls Kayden into a kiss. He knew that Kayden had a long road to recovery but he was never going to leave his side, ever.
