The store was dark and silent as a lone shadow prowled through. Walking past racks of designer clothes with barely a blink, instead aiming for the handbags, locked behind glass.

Cat woman flicked her wrist, claws sliding free from her gloves.
With a razor-sharp nail, she cut a square hole in the glass, just large enough to pull a bag or two free.

The glass fell backwards onto the bag with barely a sound.
She grinned, teeth flashing in the dark as she reached in and pulled out the designer bag.
Birkin. Classic brown leather. Would easily fetch $10,000 on the black market.
She carefully stuffed the bag into her duffel, turning her attention to the next glass cabinet.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a shadow. She hesitated. Nail inches from the glass.

She sighed loudly and stood. Hoisting the strap of her the duffel bag over a shoulder.
"Nice to see you again, Bruce. To what do I owe the pleasure this time?"
Catwoman drawled, turning to look at him.

Batman stood in the shadows. His cape ceremonesly draped behind him. Face unreadable.
Selina raised an eyebrow.
How long had he been there?

"Selina. I thought we agreed no more stealing."
His voice gruff and terse.
He wasn't happy.

Selina shrugged and began to walk away.
"I didn't really think you were serious. You never came to fulfil your offer, so I assumed...."
She trailed off with a wave of her hand. Her steps quickened.

Batman came up behind her. Boots thudding on the carpet floor.
His hand gripped her wrist in an iron grasp. Stopping her in her tracks.
"I meant it." He growled.

Selina smirked up at him. "Growling? Hmm, I remember the last time I had you growling -"
He cut her off. Yanking on her arm, making her yelp in pain.
She dropped the bag with a thud at her feet.

"Selina, enough with the bullshit. I'm serious. I told you to stop."
Each word was sharp and terse.
He was really mad then.

She looked up at him. Searching his features. His face was hard and unforgiving like cold steel.

She sighed, defeated.

"I said I was going to help you. Why are you doing this?"
His voice softened slightly.

Selina looked away. Studying a speck of dirt on the floor.
"I didn't think you were serious. I didn't think you'd actually want to help me...Y-you never even came."

She looked up at him again. His steel blue eyes flashed with emotion.
Was that regret?
No, it couldn't be. Why would he regret anything with her? She was just another criminal.

Selina grit her teeth and yanked her arm free. Quickly stepping backwards. Putting distance between them.
"Besides, old habits die hard, Bruce."

She turned on her heel and began to run into the darkness. Cutting her losses with the bag left at his feet.

She barely made it a few steps before he spoke:
"I was serious. I still am. Just...let me help you. Please"

She stopped mouth slightly agape.
Did Batman just say, please?

Selina turned to face him.
"But why do you want to help me?"

He stepped closer.

"You just... You want me to stop stealing so it's less hassle for you, don't you?
You don't care about me. "
She said bitterly. Her hands balling into fists at her sides.
She refused to look at him.

Why the hell would he care about another petty criminal?
It's not like the sex changed anything... did it?

He stood in front of her. His hulking figure towering over her.

"Selina, I do care. I..."
He hesitated, searching for the right words.
He reached for her hand. Gently this time.

She let him. Watching his matte black suit against her glossy black suit.
After a moment, their gaze met.
His eyes searched hers while. His mouth opening and closing, searching for the words.

She frowned at his silence. Pulling her hand back. He let her. Watching her hand drop.
She scoffed and turned her back on him. Walking away.

"I love you,"

She stopped in her tracks.

"Selina, I'm in love with you.
Please, let me help you."
He said quietly, as if half, hoping she wouldn't hear him.

She looked over her shoulder
"How can I believe you? How can i trust you?"

He pulled off his mask, revealing mused hair and smudged black makeup surrounding those steel blue eyes.
"You know my identity. My face, my name. I trust you."

She nodded more to herself than to him.
"Meet me at home then."

She disappeared into the night, and he let her.
