The situation took a dire turn as the unknown shadow monster's tendrils began to infiltrate and take root inside Will Byers. Outside of Hawkins Middle School, the group of friends, including Mike Wheeler, Maggie May Hopper, Dustin Henderson, Max Mayfield, and Lucas Sinclair, stumbled upon Will, who lay motionless on the ground.

They gathered around him, their concern mounting as they tried to wake him up. It was only when the shadow monster had finished injecting its ominous material into Will that he showed any signs of life. Slowly, Will began to stir, and his mother, Joyce, led him away from the unsettling scene.

As they watched Will and Joyce depart, the group couldn't help but notice that his episodes were becoming more frequent and severe. Despite their growing concern, Will remained tight-lipped about the true nature of his experiences, refusing to disclose the harrowing details, especially in front of Max.

The mystery surrounding the shadow monster, its connection to Will, and the increasing enigma of the supernatural occurrences in Hawkins only deepened, leaving the group with more questions than answers.

Maggie May returned home, her mind still reeling from the unsettling incident at Hawkins Middle School. As she stepped inside the cabin, she noticed her father, Jim Hopper, sitting on the couch, an air of palpable frustration surrounding him. Deciding to avoid the tense atmosphere, Maggie walked into her bedroom.

Once in her room, she couldn't help but notice that Eleven was missing, and concern began to gnaw at her. Unable to contain her worry, she called out to Hopper, informing him that Eleven was gone. His response was terse and laced with an underlying current of understanding. "I know she's gone, Maggie. Just staying in your room." He acknowledged effectively dismissing Maggie's concerns.

After a while, Eleven returned to the cabin, only to be met by an enraged Jim Hopper waiting for her outside. He wasted no time in scolding her for being spotted and potentially jeopardising their safety. Filled with a combination of anger and disappointment, Hopper decided to ground Eleven for a week, attempting to remove the television from the girl's shared room as part of her punishment.

However, Eleven, her emotions running high, used her telekinetic powers to hold the television in place, refusing to let it be taken away. Amid their heated exchange, Hopper resorted to pulling out the TV cables altogether, effectively cutting off her connection to the outside world.

Eleven, feeling trapped and frustrated, couldn't help but draw a painful comparison between Hopper and Martin Brenner, the doctor who tortured Eleven in her past. The tension between them escalated, and Eleven locked herself in their room, leaving Maggie in a state of shock and uncertainty.

Inside the cabin, a silent battle unfolded as Eleven tore the space apart mentally while Hopper shouted at her to grow up and take responsibility. Desperate to escape the turmoil around her, Maggie put on her Walkman, hoping to block out the escalating argument that had enveloped their home.

On the other side of Hawkins, in a different corner of the town, Jean Carlton and Billy Hargrove found themselves "studying" together. In truth, their study session had taken a more relaxed turn, with drinks and candid conversations about their issues.

Jean opened up to Billy, sharing her concerns and problems, Jean's voice quivered as she opened up about her relationship with Steve. She confessed, "You know, Billy, I feel like Steve is... slowly losing me. We used to be so close, but lately, it's like we're drifting apart. He's changed, or maybe I have. I just don't know how to bring back what we had."

As she spoke, Billy's gaze lightened, and he could see the pain in Jean's eyes, which was all to his luck. He knew what it was like to feel disconnected from someone you once cared deeply about.
