For Mahi Bhai (ICT-Mahi bhai)

I'm honestly nervous about this one , I hope I can write it well 🤞

The Mumbai crowd erupted with joy as soon as shami took the last wicket. Team india finally had broken the semis curse and healed a part of millions of heart. Hearts that had broken when India lost the semis in 2019. That run out of MS Dhoni, that wicket of Sir Jadeja, the batting order collapsing, all of that didn't hurt as much now. The team was happier than anyone else. They all felt relieved, like a weight had been lifted off them. The senior players in the team could just think about mahi bhai at that moment. Like many others, that run out and his tears broke their hearts too. They were playing for him this time, along with their country ofcourse.
The team reached the hotel after all the press conferences and they were sitting in one room.
"I'm calling Mahi bhai" Virat said obviously excited
"Wait, isn't he in his native village right now? What if he didn't watch it?" Shubman asked timidly
"OFCOURSE HE WATCHED IT" Rohit Sharma losing his cool, made Shubman jump a bit.
"How could he not? I'm sure he did, he watched it right Ash?" Virat asked, starting to overthinking
"Ofcourse he watched it, well atleast I hope he did" Ash replied, not sure himself.
"Why don't you all call him instead of assuming stuff?" That was Jassi, he was excited to talk to his Mahi bhai and he was sure he had watched the match
Virat called Mahi bhai, hoping he would answer. It's mahi bhai after all, he and his phone follow social distancing most of the time. Luckily he picked up.

"Hello cheeku" Mahi bhai's warm voice came from the other side
"Bhai!! Did you... Did you umm" Virat stuttered a bit, scared if the answer would be negative
"Yes I watched the match cheeks, congratulations" he said as if predicting virat's question
"SEE I TOLD YOU HE WATCHED THE MATCH" Rohit shouted and Shubman shrieked covering his ears
"Is everyone there Vi?" Mahi asked laughing
"Yes, everyone's here bhai. You're on speaker right now" Virat replied
"Ok then, I want to appreciate all of your performances through out the tournament "
"I know I was amazing bhai" Virat said, obviously wanting Mahi bhai to appreciate him more
"Cheeku, let me speak to all of them. I'll come to you too. Or let's go line wise. Shubman, you're the youngest in the team right? You've played so well the entire wc, despite being so young I can tell you're really talented and are going to make it big "
"Thank you so much Mahi bhai, it means a lot coming from you " Shubman replied overwhelmed
"Also, I know you're really talented but that lady luck seems to help too" Mahi added teasingly while Shubman just blushed
"Rohit, ofcourse you've had an amazing tournament as well. The first ten over seems like I'm watching t20 instead of ODI all thanks to you. But your fearless intent lifts the pressure off the middle order batsmen. And congratulations for the highest sixes record, Hitman for a reason you are "
"Mahi bhai, rulaoge ap. I miss you so much. Specially jab ye log pareshan karte hai. Only you can handle these bunch of animals who even a zoo won't take in " Rohit complained in the end and Mahi bhai just laughed at his troubles and told him it'll get better with time.
"Virat, what do I even say about you. You've fulfilled your role very well, that is to anchor the innings. Also congratulations for breaking your own idiol's record, that's the biggest achievement one can have. I'm proud of you "
"Mahi bhai, I wish ap bhi waha hote. I missed you "
"I miss you all too. Next is Shreyas, the fearless cricket you've been playing is a treat to watch. Congrats on the century too, go well in the finals " Shreyas thanked him, ofcourse really happy that The MS Dhoni had praised him
"Rahul. Comebacks are greater than setbacks, this quote belongs to you right now because what form is that even? Amazing batting at number 5, amazing catches and good drs calls. You'll kill it in the finals too I know" kl being one of the biggest Dhoni fans out there couldn't hide that huge smile on his face, which was very unlike him.
"SKY, I hope you keep sending the balls to the sky and out of the stadium. Well played"

"Jaddu yaara all rounder hai tu to, har aspect mai just do your best in the finals aur fir I'm going to lift you again"
"Done" Jaddu said giving the most jadeja like smile
"Boom boom, your Yorkers are deadly still. It's scary at this point. Keep the fire in them during the finals too"
"I will do my best Mahi bhai"
"Kul, kiddo your bowling just keeps getting better. I'm so proud of you"
"I miss you bhai"
"Siraj, your bowling has some fire I swear. Whenever you bowl, I feel scared as if I'm facing them. Best of luck for the final"
"Thank you Bhai, means a lot "
"And today's star, shami. Alag hi mood mai hai ye to. You converted semi final into Shami finals. What excellent bowling "

"And Ash, Ishan, shardul and prasidh you guys keep the team environment so amazing, thanks for that. I miss harry but I know he enjoyed watching the match today" Mahi bhai ended with a laugh as he saw him sitting and sipping coconut water during the match. Full Windies vibe

"Bhai, do you feel happier now that we've won the semis?" Virat asked hoping he also felt a little less painful
"I was happy ever since the world cup started, the way this team is performing right now makes me forget 2019 semis. Are you guys happy?"
"Ofcourse we are bhai. We finally avenged you, I would say that only when we win the finals " Rohit replied, his focus only on winning
"We're going to win it for the country and you " Jassi said softly, while the others nodded determined
"If you win it for the country, you win it for me. It's the same kiddos"
"We know, but still. The one who deserves it the most is you " kuldeep persisted
"Okay kiddo, I'm not arguing on that"
"Yes, so we're winning it for you too along with the country " Ash had spoken, the first time since the call stated. Mahi remembered his younger self, saying the same thing to Sachin paaji a day before the finals. He smiled looking at these bunch of animals a zoo won't take in, who were his kiddos. His own kiddos and he had never felt more proud.

Okay I don't know how this turned out. I'm so nervous about the finals. I can't describe it in words right now. Whatever happens, I'll supporting them. Bleed blue ♾️💙
