"What important matter do we have to discuss?" I question as Draco rejoins me in the living room.
"How good you look with those hickeys on your neck." I roll my eyes at that and flip my hair over my shoulders to hide them. "I'm kidding...ish...we need to talk about how annoying my friends are."
I chuckle and stand up from the sofa before wrapping my arms around Malfoy's neck. "They're being nice." I correct and he groans, putting his head back. I force it back up and he cocks it to the side while staring at me. "I think that you'd have fun at your Bachelor party. Don't act like you're not a party boy."
"I'm not." He scoffs and I roll my eyes before blankly staring at him. "...ish. But you won't be there so what's the point?"
"That I'm not there."
Huffing, Draco lets his head fall against mine and closes his eyes. "You can't survive one night without me?" I taunt and he laughs before looking at me again and grabbing me by my hips.
"Don't flatter yourself." I continue to laugh at that and he rolls his eyes. "One night is crazy. Yes, I can survive without you for one night but, again, what's the point? I'd rather have you all to myself."
"That's what the wedding is." He rolls his eyes and patiently sighs, waiting for me to give up. I won't. "Your friends miss you. You've not had fun with them in how long? Since Hogwarts? It's been a few years since then and I think it'll be nice for you to...do whatever you used to do with them."
Instead of complaining, the blonde cocks his head to the side and hesitates before saying, "...fine." I squeal, which seems to pester him as he rolls his eyes again but I don't care. "The things that you make me do, Parker."
"Spend time with your closest friends, I'm a villain." I sarcastically reply and Malfoy chuckles before puckering his lips against my forehead. I scowl at him and he laughs before holding his hands beside his head and stepping back from me. "I have to go soon. I'm going for brunch with my friends, I forgot to tell you."
"Have fun, try not to miss me too much." I roll my eyes at that and leave him downstairs so that I can get dressed.
After showering, I attempt to cover the multitude of hickeys with makeup but no amount seems to cover them so I wash it off before using Malfoy's other idea and I cover them with a turtleneck. Once I finish getting ready, I immediately check on Lorelai to feed her but, when I go in there, Draco is already doing it.
I give Lorelai a kiss on the head as my goodbye and Malfoy puckers his lips, causing me to smile before kissing him. "I'll see you later, Mrs Malfoy."
Standing outside of the coffee shop that my friends and I agreed on, I look around and see them inside. A bell dings as the door opens and I'm greeted by warm lighting and the sound of chatter. My friends seem to not have their drinks yet but, when I get there, they decide to order as do I.
"So, you're engaged, Mione's getting a promotion, Harry's dating my younger sister and I've just come back from seeing Charlie and Bill in Romania." Ron lists and I smile and then my eyes narrow at Harry.
"You and Ginny?" He nods his head and I gasp. "For how long?"
"5 months, I think." My eyebrows raise and Hermione laughs. Ron doesn't seem upset about the idea, which I'm grateful for as I'm sure Harry is.
"And you got promoted?" I question, turning to Hermione, who nods her head with a bright smile on her face. "To what?"
A crease forms in her brows and she seems rather confused. "Your fiancé hasn't told you?" I slowly shake my head at that and she hums. "Well I'm now an Auror, I have to protect the Wizarding World from the Dark Arts." My jaw drops and I feel an overwhelming sense of pride for her. "I can't believe Draco didn't tell you, he also got promoted. He's the Senior Undersecretary to Scrimgeour."
"What does that mean?" Harry asks as our drinks get brought to us. I smile to the waiter as a 'thank you' and turn my attention back to Hermione.
"It means that when Scrimgeour retires, Malfoy will take his place as Minister." I don't even attempt to control my shock. It's amazing news, why would he not tell me?
After another half an hour, my friends and I decide that we should all go home and I congratulate Hermione, once more, on her promotion before apparating back to the Manor.
When I get inside, Malfoy is downstairs and he's sat with Lorelai on the floor. He has a broom laying between the two of him and her hands firmly clasp it. I step closer to get a better look and it's the broom that I got him a few years ago. "You sit on it." The blonde quips and Lorelai coos in response. "No sit, like you're doing now. You swing your leg over and balance on it." She raises her hand and grabs the bottom of his shirt, attempting to pull him closer towards her. "If we were playing Quidditch, you would have lost 20 points."
I squeeze my lips together so that I don't laugh and Lorelai babbles much louder and for longer. Malfoy raises both of his eyebrows while he listens to her and eventually he shakes his head and laughs. "That's not how you talk, mate." She projects her indecipherable words louder and Draco hums, nodding along as if he can understand her. "Your Mother's back."
I immediately stand up straight as his eyes raise to me and he gently grabs Lorelai before turning her around to face me. A bright smile spreads on her face and her cheeks begin to burn pink. Her babbles continue and she claps her hands, laughing. "You got promoted?"
A crease forms in his brow but he seems to recollect and he tuts. "Granger?" He guesses and I nod my head.
"Why did you not tell me?" I ask, feeling more confused than angry. He pats the floor for me to sit down and I hesitate before obeying and taking a seat across from him. I pick up Lorelai and smother her cheek in kisses, earning a laugh from her, before hugging her.
"It's just...not that big of a deal." He shrugs and I scoff at him.
"It's amazing."
"It's time consuming." The blonde corrects and I raise an eyebrow. "Scrimgeour always pi...annoyed me and now I have to be by his side, constantly. My office is bigger, which I guess is good, but all I'm doing is following him into meetings and taking notes. It's boring as f..it's boring."
"But you wanted this." I remind and he rolls his eyes. "Malfoy, Scrimgeour is basically retired already. He's got...1 or 2 years left until he can actually go into retirement and, when he does, your ambition will be satisfied. Why are you not excited?"
Once again, he shrugs his shoulders but I cock my head to the side and wait for an answer that will satisfy me. "I'm not 18 anymore." I frown. "It's a big thing, I know, but better things are happening than me just getting a promotion."
"Don't undermine it like that." I scold and he holds his hands beside his head. "You got a promotion! I'm offended that you didn't tell me but I'm happy for you, even if you're not happy for yourself." I allow Lorelai to crawl on the floor and I take a seat on Draco's lap before pressing my lips against his. "My blonde little beetle got promoted, congratulations."
Draco laughs and places his hand over my mouth to silence me but I smile regardless. But then, I remove his hand from my mouth as a question pops in my head about the engagement party. "Did you invite all of your family, last night, or was it just Teddy?"
"Just Teddy. Do you think I'd invite them old bastards?" He replies and I give him a stern look for his swearing. "Sorry. Those old idiots."
"So you haven't told them that we're getting married?" He shakes his head and analyses my face before frowning. "They're your family. They should know that you're getting married, most people only do it once and you are one of those people."
"They're a bunch of imbeciles." Malfoy laughs, "I'm not informing them about this. They don't need to know."
"You are on only child." I state and he shrugs his shoulders. "Your Parents only have one chance to see you get married and you want to take it away from them?"
"They put themselves in this position when all of that shit was said about you." The blonde corrects, scoffing. "I don't feel bad for them, Bella, and you shouldn't either. Let it go." I open my mouth to disagree but he silences me, "I'm serious, Parker, let it go."
Silently, I nod my head, knowing that I, indeed, will not let it go.
