In dialogue, italics indicate a verb, and parenthesis "()" indicate a character's thoughts. Brackets "[]" indicate that the speaker isn't speaking English.
Bold indicates the first time a characters name (or nickname), name of a certain place, or an event has been said.
Two dashes on either side can indicate many things based on what's in them, such as the start or end of a phone call (-- PHONE CALL -- and -- CALL END-- respectively), a change in setting or time, or even a flashback.
