Chuuya pushed his way through the crowd. The show was far from over. Y/n's band had been one of many performing that night but Chuuya had no interest in the other musicians. He caught a flash of a familiar face at the bar. He pursued.

Dazai was leaning on the edge of the bar, the black flaking paint sticking to the elbows of his coat. It wasn't Dazai Chuuya was after. He watched as the ex mafioso grabbed two drinks from the bartender and turned his back to Chuuya, handing one to the girl beside him. Her eyes flashed brightly in the dim light from the stage. She smiled.

Chuuya steeled himself with a deep breath. He had long since lost Akutagawa and any sense of comfort or confidence in the crowd. All that was left were the nerves. It had been so long, he had thought she was dead. Yet here she was, seeming to emanate a soft glow. Here she was, laughing at something Dazai must've said.

He approached the bar, clearing his throat as he came up behind Dazai. The taller man turned, recognition flooding his features for a split second before an easy, teasing smile replaced it. Chuuya knew the man well, too well. They couldn't hide anything from one another, not for very long anyways.

"Guess I can't escape you anywhere, Chibi." Dazai sighed and Chuuya could see Y/n cheerfully conversing with a pretty boy in a hat behind him.

"Fuck off, I'm not here for you." he reluctantly grumbled in reply, his hands shoved deep in the depths of his pants pockets, "Let me talk to her."

Dazai's smile only widened at Chuuya's words, at the fact that the shorter man was refusing to meet his eyes.

"Oh?" he teased, leaning forward a bit, "You a fan?"

Before Chuuya had the chance to fire back a response, Dazai was suddenly shoved out of the way. It had been a playful shove, nothing violent, and laughter hung in the light of Y/n's eyes as she stepped up beside Dazai.

"Oh hush you." she reprimanded the taller man who simply chuckled softly, an endearing sort of expression of adoration crashing onto his features as he did so.

It made Chuuya's blood boil for some reason, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. Y/n turned to face him.

"Sorry about that..." she began to say but her words quickly disappeared into the ether as her eyes landed on his visage. They went wide, not very but enough to show a flash of recognition, a bit of shock. The smile fell from her lips.

"Are you alright?" Chuuya asked after a moment and she shook her head, raising her eyebrows slightly as she did so, as if she was trying to clear it of something.

"Uh, yeah." she stuttered out, "Sorry. You just look a lot like someone I used to know. Did you want an autograph or something?"

The boy she had been speaking with before had stepped into the group now too, flanking Y/n's other side, closing her in.

"Who?" Chuuya found himself asking, unable to not.

Y/n shot him a curious glance before she answered, her words carefully chosen.

"You wouldn't know him."

"Try me."

A bemused smile broke out across her face at his response. Her features spoke to him, saying: t'ry you? Alright. I'll try you, you cocky man.' She leaned forward slightly, her gaze intense.

"Nakahara Chuuya."

Dazai's face fell, confusion gracing his countenance as he shot Y/n a questioning glance out of the corner of his eye. Chuuya could have laughed.

"Y/n." Dazai slowly called, his voice low and quiet.

"What?" she asked in response, not breaking eye contact with her target.
