pounding of shoes against the pavement,
the burn of lost air in our lungs,
"catch up!"
"Hurry!"
"Mom I love you I'll be  okay"
were the sounds rushing through my ears as we ran.
Ran in fear that if we stopped we would be dead.
Chaos.
everywhere.
Teachers screaming for us to get to the safe area
Students crying and running in confusion and fear.
Sirens of the swat team filling the parking lot masked by the ringing in my ears.
I can't find my sister.
Sister.
Middle school.
Active assailant.
In the middle school.
Sister
In the middle school
this is what happened on May 16 2024 at Litchfield Senior High School and Middle School. A "False alarm" went off for an active assailant in the middle school. High schoolers were told to run if they didn't want to die by teachers. No one knew what happened. The school is claiming it an accident. When 1-2 weeks prior a 7th grade boy had brought a loaded g*n to school. Staff were told and they let the kid off with a warning. No one thinks it was an accident, things like that don't just accidentally get bumped into and set off.
Middle school children were locked in hallways. The fire doors slammed shut sounding like gun shots. They were in complete darkness. They tried scratching and clawing out because they thought they were going to die. A 5th grade boy was surrounded by SWATT and had multiple guns pointed at him when they broke down the door to the bathroom he was locked in. people were trampled. And you claim this to be a misunderstanding and and accident. No. For the rest of the day it was fight or flight. The pain in my mother's voice when she found out that it wasn't a drill was something I don't wish upon anyone. I have never seen a group of people more terrified for their lives in my life.
