As the four of them walked back into class, Shane was deep in thought, still mulling over their ideas for the play. Suddenly, he felt a jolt as someone bumped into him from behind. Papers flew everywhere, and Shane turned around to see who had collided with him.

It was Marcus, one of Shane and Ophelia's closest friends. He looked frazzled and stressed, clearly in a hurry. "Sorry, man," he said, his voice apologetic. "I'm running late for the event planning meeting, and I wasn't watching where I was going."

Shane smiled, understanding the pressure that Marcus was under. "No worries, dude," he said, bending down to help pick up the scattered papers.

Elijah, Noah, and Alex joined in, helping to gather the documents and hand them back to Marcus. "Thanks, guys," Marcus said, looking relieved. "I really appreciate it."

Ophelia walked up just then, looking concerned. "Is everything okay?" she asked, eyeing the scattered papers.

Marcus nodded. "Yeah, I just need to get to the meeting," he said. "Thanks for your help, guys." said Marcus then left them.

As he hurried off, the five of them exchanged a smile. They knew that Marcus was always busy, but they admired his dedication and work ethic. "That guy never stops," Alex said, shaking his head.

Shane chuckled. "Yeah, but he always manages to pull it off," he said. "I don't know how he does it."

As they settled back into their work, Elijah's mind was elsewhere. He couldn't help but think about Ophelia and the way he felt when he saw her. Was it possible that he was falling in love with her?

Lost in thought, Elijah didn't even notice when Noah, Alex, and Shane started waving their hands in front of his face. "Hello? Earth to Elijah!" Alex said, grinning.

Elijah snapped out of his reverie, feeling a little embarrassed. "Sorry, guys," he said, shaking his head. "I was just thinking."

Noah raised an eyebrow. "About Ophelia?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eye.

Elijah felt his face flush. "What? No, I wasn't," he protested, but he knew that his friends could see right through him.

Shane chuckled. "Don't worry, man, we won't judge you," he said, clapping Elijah on the back.

Alex grinned. "Yeah, we've all been there," he said. "Love is a powerful thing."

Just then, Ophelia walked up to their table, overhearing their conversation. "What's so funny, guys?" she asked, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

Noah, Alex, and Shane exchanged a knowing look, and Elijah felt his face grow even hotter. "Uh, nothing," he said, trying to sound casual.

Ophelia just laughed. "You guys are too much," she said, shaking her head. Then, her phone buzzed, and she glanced down to see a message from her friends. "Sorry, guys, I have to go," she said then leave them.

Noah, Alex, and Shane waved goodbye, and Elijah felt a pang of disappointment as Ophelia walked away. He tried to shake it off, but he could feel his friends' eyes on him. "What?" he asked, feeling defensive.

Alex chuckled. "Dude, you're so obvious," he said, grinning. "You're totally into Ophelia."

Shane nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we could all see it," he said.

"Looks like Elijah's got a crush," Alex teased, winking at him.

Shane snickered. "Yeah, and Ophelia's not interested," he said, making a face then they laughed.

Elijah felt a little embarrassed, but he knew that his friends were just teasing him. "Ha ha, very funny," he said, trying to sound nonchalant.

As they entered the classroom, Elijah took a deep breath and tried to focus on the task at hand. He knew that they had a lot of work to do, and he didn't want his feelings for Ophelia to get in the way.

Then the math teacher entered the room, Elijah took a deep breath and tried to focus on the lesson. He knew that they had a lot of work to do, and he didn't want his feelings for Ophelia to get in the way.

But as the teacher began to teach, Elijah, Alex, and Noah quickly realized that they were struggling to understand. Shane, on the other hand, seemed to be following along with ease.

As the math teacher continued with his lesson, he posed a series of questions to the class. "Alright, class, let's see if you've been paying attention," he said, a sly grin on his face. "Who can tell me the answer to this problem?"

Elijah's hand shot up, eager to show that he understood the material. But before he could speak, the teacher called on Shane.

"Shane, why don't you come up to the board and show us how it's done?" the teacher said, gesturing towards the whiteboard.

Shane nodded confidently and made his way to the front of the room. He picked up a marker and began to write out the solution to the problem, his hand moving quickly and confidently.

Elijah watched as Shane worked, feeling a mix of admiration and frustration. He knew that Shane was good at math, but he couldn't help but feel like he was being left behind.

As Shane finished writing out the solution, the teacher turned to the class. "Alright, who can tell me the next step?" he asked.

This time, Elijah's hand shot up even faster than before. He was determined to show that he could keep up with Shane.

The teacher called on Elijah, and he made his way up to the board. He picked up a marker and began to write out the next step in the solution, his hand shaking slightly with nerves.

But as he worked, Elijah felt a sense of pride. He was keeping up with Shane, and he was starting to understand the material better.

As the class ended and the students began to pack up their things, Alex leaned over to Elijah and whispered, "Hey dude, why do you always feel like you're competing with Shane?"

Elijah looked at Alex, surprised by the question. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"Well, every time the teacher asks a question, you always try to answer before Shane does," Alex said. "It's like you're trying to prove something."

Elijah thought for a moment before responding. "I don't know, I guess I just feel like I need to prove that I'm good at something," he said. "And math has always been a struggle for me, so when I see someone like Shane who's good at it, I feel like I need to prove that I can keep up."

Alex nodded in understanding. "I get it," he said. "But you don't need to prove anything to anyone, man. You're smart in your own way, and you have your own strengths."

Then, the school bell rang, signaling the end of the day, Elijah smiled at Alex before turning to grab his backpack. He ignored Alex's comment and instead focused on packing up his things and getting ready to leave.

He walked out of the classroom and into the hallway, he felt a sense of relief. The day had been long and challenging, but he had made it through.

Elijah made his way to the parking lot, where he saw Alex and Noah getting ready to ride off on their motorbikes. Elijah walked over to his car and unlocked the doors, feeling a sense of pride as he slid into the driver's seat.

He saw Shane standing nearby, waiting for someone. Just then, Ophelia approached Shane, and Elijah couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.

He watched as the two of them talked and laughed, feeling a sense of unease in the pit of his stomach. He knew that he had no reason to be jealous, but he couldn't help the way he felt.

Elijah started the engine of his car and pulled out of the parking lot, trying to shake off the feeling of jealousy.
