"Daddy mi a tell yuh seh a nuh my day fhi wash the plate," I roll my eyes and continue taking a small bite from my nuggets.
"Anuh mine eitherrrr," my little sister, Nalisia sing sang.
Our father hiss his teeth. "Suh a who fa? Mhi sure know seh smaddy else nuh live ya, and mhi wash dem last night after mhi cook," his voice was calm but we could tell he was fed up.
Mhi cya bada, most likely everyday a me wash plate inna dis. I finished my breakfast and washed my plate. "Mhi will wash dem when mhi come home cho mn, and hurry up cause mhi ago late," I ran to my room down the hall and grabbed my fully charged phone and charger.
I rushed back to the kitchen where Nalisia and Daddy were still engaged in a lively debate about the mysterious plate-washing culprit.
"Nuh mi tell yuh seh a nuh me?" Nalisia insisted, crossing her arms defiantly.
Daddy shook his head in disbelief. "Mi nuh know how unuh manage fi turn simple plate-washing into a big drama every day. unuh come, all late fi school."
We piled into the car, the argument continuing in the confined space. The drive to school echoed with discussions about responsibility and chores. Despite the ongoing dispute, we arrived at school just in time.
