As Chloe observed the unfamiliar wolf, her heart quickened.

The resemblance of the imprint on the wolf's paw to the one her parents used as a unique mark for their lineage was uncanny.

It was a mark that had not been seen for generations, and it could only mean one thing: this wolf was a direct descendant of her own bloodline.

The realization sent a shiver down her spine, and her wolf instincts were on high alert. She turned to Richard, her eyes wide with a mixture of excitement and fear. "Richard, I think this wolf might be from my own bloodline, a descendant of my ancestors," she whispered urgently. "We need to find out who he or she is and why they're here."

Richard nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting the seriousness of the situation. "I'll do everything I can to assist you, Chloe. We need to find out more about this wolf and their connection to your family."

As they continued to watch the mysterious wolf from their concealed position, they couldn't help but wonder what secrets this encounter might unveil.

The wolf, unaware of their presence, continued to sniff around and left in the direction from which it had came. Chloe and Richard exchanged determined glances, knowing that they needed to find out who the trespasser was.

Chloe took a cautious whiff of the air, making sure the trespasser had left before connecting with Richard through their mental link.

She stayed on guard, just in case the intruder decided to show up again. "Let's talk inside. It's safer; we don't know who might be listening," Chloe suggested, her worry evident. "We're already dealing with enough, and we're nowhere close to figuring things out."

Heading back to the mansion, Richard and Chloe kept an eye out for any additional footprints in the ground. They wanted to be sure there were no more surprises waiting for them in the shadows.

Ava slept peacefully, her lips sealed, and nostrils slightly flared. Oscar, holding her close, watched her and then stole a glance at Ava, appreciating her gentle nature.

As Oscar was about to drift off to sleep, his phone rang loudly. Moving quickly to answer without checking the caller ID, he whispered, "Hello." Cara's irritated voice came through, accusing him of ignoring calls and texts for days.

Oscar hurried out of the room, making sure to keep the conversation private in the nearby bathroom. Whispering, he assured, "I'll come see you tomorrow; we need to talk." Oscar acknowledged, "I owe you an explanation. I'll be there early in the morning." With that, he held his head, overwhelmed with thoughts.

"You've got until tomorrow. And don't think I didn't hear about that woman who came. She's probably the reason I haven't heard from you," Clara spat angrily. "I've got things to talk to you abou too. Don't promise things you can't keep. Be here tomorrow morning, or I'll come spill the truth to that girl you're fooling. I'm sure she knows nothing about me," Clara chuckled evilly.

The tension in the air grew palpable as Oscar tentatively reached for the handle of Clara's door. Clara's penetrating gaze bore into him, demanding answers. "You kept me waiting, Oscar."

"You may want to sit down first, Clara." Oscar sighed as he locked the door and head over to where Clara was..

"What's going on?" Clara pressed, frustration etched across her features.

Taking a deep breath, Oscar sensed the gravity of the impending revelation. "Clara, there's something important I need to share with you," he began, selecting his words with utmost care constantly rubbing his head out of frustration....

Clara frowns, not liking Oscars tone. She sat down as she was told and stared at Oscar trying to put the missing pieces together... "Talk to me. What happened?"

"Long story short. A few weeks ago, a girl was kidnapped and within that time I found out that we shared a connection. She's, my mate."

Clara's eyes widened, a mixture of surprise and disbelief playing out on her face. "Mate? But you and I-"

Oscar interjected, "Clara, I can't deny the connection I have with Ava. She's my mate, and I can't turn away from that, you know that. We had a great relationship, but we both agreed that whenever we meet our mates, we would end what we have." Oscar carefully added... "I know this is quick, but what else am I supposed to do?"

A storm of emotions swept across Clara's countenance, ranging from anger to desperation. In a sudden desperate move, she reached into a concealed pocket, producing a small vial containing a mysterious substance. With swift precision, she cast a spell, the contents of the vial dissipating into the air.

An unexpected dizziness overcame Oscar, his thoughts becoming hazy. Seizing the opportunity, Clara demanded, "Tell me about your mate, Oscar."

Under the influence of the spell, Oscar's mental clarity blurred. Clara's visage seemed to shift and morph in his perception.

Despite his struggle against the confusion, he found himself compelled to speak. "Ava... She's special. We share a bond, a connection that I can't explain."

Triumph glinted in Clara's eyes as she extracted the information she sought. Satisfied, she leaned back, a sinister smile playing on her lips. "Good. Now, remember, Oscar, we're meant to be together."

Still under the spell's influence, Oscar weakly nodded. The reality of Ava, his true mate, faded into the background as Clara's manipulation took hold.

Later, as Oscar departed from Clara's abode, a lingering disorientation accompanied him.

Unbeknownst to him, Clara observed from the shadows, reveling in the success of her spell. Oscar's thoughts were clouded, diverted from the truth.

Back at home, a strange feeling of unease clung to Oscar. Entering his bedroom, he glanced at Ava, peacefully asleep.

As he lay down, the events with Clara became a confusing blur in his mind. The connection with Ava, his true mate, was overshadowed by a fabricated reality- a spell-induced illusion that would shape the trajectory of his actions in the days to follow.

A day had past

Ava smiled sheepishly as Oscar's eyes fluttered open.... "Wakey. Wakey. My love. You have been sleeping for more than seven hours, you must be hungry." With that Ava kissed Oscar on his lips lighly...

Oscar blinked twice as he remembered Clara's words... He didn't kiss back Ava, he rudely took her hands off him and stood up.... Ava was hurt by this and asked.... "Why are you acting like a jerk?"
