Suzie sat patiently in the high chair waiting for her food, locking her legs. Then Lucy came in with a jar of baby food.

"Open wide~"

Suzie's eyes widened. She could smell the fruity paste, made of all kinds of berries. She took out her pacifier and opened her mouth wide just as she was told. The airplane made it through her mouth and it was on time to deliver the delicious mush.

"Mmm!"

"It's good, isn't it?"

Suzie just nodded and she swallowed her food. As her mom spoonfed her another bite, she told Suzie about her plans.

"Hey, Suzie?"

Suzie blinked. The tone her mom used seemed to turn on her older self. "Yeah?"

"You know how your school starts on
January 22?"

"Yeah?" Suzie answered, wondering what was wrong.

"Well, my job requires me to go back on the 11th of January. And you have school again on the 22nd."

Suzie just said nothing and stared down. After a minute she spoke up. "So what do we do?"

"Well I don't think I can drop you off like this, but I think I've found an answer. Remember when you pretended to be a toddler at last year's family gathering?"

Suzie nodded. "Yeah?"

"Well, I was thinking we do that again. I found a daycare that might be willing to accept you if we fake your age again."

"Oh, so it's like last time?"

"Yeah so don't worry too much. But this time you're older. You'll have to pretend to be 2 and a half."

"Why not like 1 and a half like last time?"

"Well, honey you're a little bigger so you'll be 2 and a half. I'm not even sure how your previous age worked last time. You're much too big to be convincingly one and a half years old. I'm not even sure how those baby clothes even fit you."

"Uh... what?"

"Nevermind. The point is, you're bigger than last time so your pretend age needs to be bigger too."

"Okay, Mom." Suzie nodded. "Wait... will I need a fake name again?"

"Hmmmm... I actually did think about this... last time your family knew you so I couldn't use your real name. But this time these are people who probably don't know you... I don't think we should risk it."

"Can I pick my fake name this time?"

"Oh, okay then."

"Hmmmm... can I be... Jeanette."

"Really?" Lucy said. "Is there any reason you picked that name.

Suzie shrugged, or at least she tried in her high chair. "I thought it sounded pretty."

"Well okay then. That's all settled," Lucy said as she spoonfed her daughter and dug out another spoonful of baby food. "Now open wide~"

Soon enough breakfast was finished. The days passed by as Suzie waited for the day of the tour. She was starting to feel nervous. Maybe her family was fooled or were too nice to ask, but these would be strangers. How well would it go?

The day soon came by. Suzie was dressed in a black and white polka dots onesie dress. Her hair was styled in curls to help hide her age, which she fiddled with as they drove there.

"Mommy... I'm kinda nervous."

Her mom looked at her daughter through the front mirror and just gave a calming smile. "It's okay, you're going to daycare for the first time. It makes sense that you're nervous. It'll be alright."

"Okay..." Suzie said. Her mom reached over and popped her paci in her mouth. "There. That'll keep you calm."

Suzie just nodded and started to nurse on her paci. She stared out the window. She watched the warm sunrise across the sky, and the people walking by going on their way, it all felt calm. But it also oddly reminded her of the first time she went out with diapers. She remembered what it was like being forced out here because of a punishment. Now she was doing it because she wanted to.

Then as she was watching she saw another car go by them. She focused on it. It was a dark silver color, and the car was a bit longer than theirs. She tried to read the back of the number plate, but by the time she did the car was gone. Weirdly the car felt familiar to her, but she wasn't sure why. She put her elbow on her knee put her head on her head and pondered before shrugging. Eh.

Soon they made it to the daycare building. Suzie patiently waited for her Mommy to come down and get her out of the car. She came over and unbuckled her, and gave her her back to put on. As she stepped down she heard the crunching of gravel under her feet, and the warm sun started to make her feel better. She looked up to her Mommy.

"Are you ready Suzie?"

Suzie just nodded excitedly. "Good girl. Now, remember to do the same stuff as last time. Don't ask for changes, don't speak too well, etc."

Suzie nodded again and took her Mommy's hand as they walked through the front door.

As they stepped inside Suzie felt cool air conditioning blow over her and made her feel nice. She heard the mechanical blowing of the AC, but other than that there weren't any other sounds she could hear. As they walked through she started to feel nervous again. It was just her and Mommy and their footsteps on the black carpet.

Then they came to the front desk. Mommy came up to the front lady.

"Good morning ma'am how may I help you?" The lady said formally.

"Hello there, it's Lucy. We talked on the phone the other day."

"Oh right! It's your scheduled tour." The lady then got off her desk and looked down. Suzie got a better look on her face now. Her hair was black, and the lught made it look almost purple. She had a pair of red glasses on her face and small eyes. "Oh and who might you be?"

Suzie just looked down out of shyness and looked at her nice black shoes. She heard the lady speak. "Aw, she's shy."

Her Mommy squeezed her hand. "Come on, introduce yourself."

Suzie looked up and just mumbled. "I'm Jeanette."

"Awww! Aren't you cute! She'll fit right in, Mrs. Amine."

"Oh don't call me that!" They both laughed. "That makes me feel old!"

"Okay Lucy. You can call me Anna. Now, are you ready?"

Suzie looked up to her Mommy, then to Ms. Anna. "Okay."

The three of then walked into the daycare.
