you pretend not to see me

but i know you do

there was something about you

that drew me to you

but now i see

that there was nothing there

hollowness, emptiness,

a lot of dead air.

don't tell me you're right.

for i know that you're wrong.

don't tell me a lie

don't sing me that song.

i know that you're false

and nothing will change

because you don't see me

though i've stayed the same.

what happened to how we were before?

when you were kind, when there was no score?

why did it become this game

back and forth, i thought you'd stay the same?

i'm happier now, but i digress

your demeanor had put me into severe distress

i'm glad that you're gone now,

but i suppose i'm to blame.

it is my fault, after all,

for thinking you'd feel the same.
