[Monday]
The weekend went by, and (Y/n) spent that time feeling sad, and crying over Kenny. She went through the whole thing the healthy way most people should. She cried to her girlfriends on the phone, she ate ice cream, she binged TV shows, everything. On Monday, all her girlfriends were very protective of her, and she avoided most people. Those at school who knew her were surprised to see her so down. A majority of people at school believed (Y/n) to be the happy-go-lucky type.
Once school ended, rather than go home to mope around, she decided to go to someone for advice.
"(Y/n), what's wrong, you don't look so good," Mrs. Flores said to (Y/n) as she approached her on the porch.
"My boyfriend broke up with me," (Y/n) said sadly, slumping down into the other chair near her.
"What?! That little cunt! After all the great advice I gave him, he dares to hurt you?!" She remarked angrily, making some of her cats sit further away. One of Mrs. Flores's cats, a black kitten, leaped onto (Y/n)'s lap and curled up. (Y/n) bit her lips, and peered down at the porch,
"It's like he's completely different. He's acting like he used me this whole time, and that he was playing me! I know he wasn't though, I just know it... Like... I'm trying to communicate with him, but it's like talking to a wall. He just ignores me, all my texts, my calls, everything," (Y/n) said.
"Oh, (Y/n), don't let it get you down, you're still so young, you'll meet plenty of better guys!" Mrs. Flores stood up and neared (Y/n). She rubbed her back comfortingly, as tears fell down her face. The tears started to fall at a fast rate onto the black kitten. The kitten perked up, and sat up, leaning its face up to catch the falling tears with its mouth. Suppose the kitty was parched for some salty tears.
"But... you met your husband in high school," (Y/n) said.
"Well yeah, but it's actually really rare for high school relationships to last," She said.
(Y/n) bit her lip, as more tears fell down.
"I really thought he was the one! He was my first everything, the first person to make me feel so much! Even now... all I want to do is keep trying to make him mine again..."
Mrs. Flores sighed before speaking, "You really love him that much?"
(Y/n) glanced up at her, catching her concerned expression. She nodded her head rapidly,
"Well... would you say that you think he's your soulmate?" She asked.
"Yes! Without a doubt!" (Y/n) said without hesitation. (Y/n) wholeheartedly believed Kenny was her soulmate. It could be due to the fact that he was her first love, or it could be that they really were soulmates. Maybe both.
"I don't really see what you like in this boy, but if you think he's the one, then keep fighting for him (Y/n)." She advised her. (Y/n) looked up at her in confusion,
"You think I should?"
"Yes, as crazy as it sounds (Y/n)... If you really think he's your soulmate, then don't let him go."
"Everyone's been telling me to just get over him," She said disappointedly.
"Don't listen to anyone else (Y/n). As cliche, as it is, listen to your heart. You, of all people, know what's best for you."
Those wise words are what convinced (Y/n) to keep moving forward. From there on, she focused her energy on being her usual cheery self; the weird, stubborn, and convincing one. She'd do everything in her power to get Kenny back.
