CHAPTER SEVENTY NINE

-: fifth year :-

── IN WHICH THEY
TRAVEL TO THE
DUNGEONS

. . .

Harry made his way back down the common room stairs, arm shrouded in the glittery web that made up his Invisibility cloak. Aviana stood waiting for him, the fright of Umbridge's hand grabbing desperately at the coals where Sirius's head had just been so evident on his face. Her uniform, which had returned to it's original Slytherin colours, was shrouded by one of Harry's old jumper, face half alight in the light of the fire.

Her expression changed in half an instance when she saw him, eyes alight particularly at the mass of material on his arm. Interest sparked and Harry held it out to her, watching as she held it to the nearest lamp, fingers splayed over the fabric.

"This is well made." She hummed. "You know, good Invisibility cloaks are hard to come by... my dad used to have one, apparently, before his house got searched by the Ministry when he was initially accused of being a Death Eater, and from the pictures I can tell it isn't nearly as good as this one."

"You know far too much." Harry murmured, in somewhat awe. "Go on, tell me more." He urged, intrigued now, perhaps by the fact she was so aware of absolutely everything - including his own family - or perhaps by the idea, the simple, stupid idea, that she seemed just an speck more prettier when she was rambling on about something he had entirely no idea about, any time her mind was going more than a mile a minute to tell him about something - his family tree, her schemes, the simple amount of snark she managed to weave into every conversation.

Aviana gazed at him for a moment. "On the walk down." She murmured, because Harry had promised to walk her back to the Slytherin common room, and there seemed to be a inkling within her that tonight was not the night for her to be caught lingering in the Gryffindor Common Room; Umbridge's hand had disappeared quite quickly, and Aviana had every reason to believe that the Professor would be prowling through the corridors, hoping to find some wayward student to subsequently punish in light of her failures.

"We'll have to stand quite close." Harry said, as they stepped out into the corridor, quite cautiously. Umbridge could have been anywhere nearby, but nonetheless it seemed empty for now.

Aviana smirked, a welcome change to her expression. "Don't go shy on me now, Potter." She hummed. "We've been in certainly more incriminating positions. Much closer positions."

"Okay, okay." Harry mumbled, ears turning red. "I can't believe you told Sirius about that."

"Mundungus already told him, the rat." Aviana stood beside him as he draped the cloak over her, and they fell into step beside one another, and her arm quite naturally found itself into the crook of his elbow. "That was what my chat with Sirius was about by the way... that and my general behaviour. Told him all about Umbridge."

Harry nodded slowly. He remained silent for a moment. "How did you know so much about my family?" He asked.

"Oh, it was rather a lot, wasn't it?" Aviana hummed, as they made their way down several staircases. "Well, it's simple, really, I'm the only child in a Pureblood family, and when I wasn't being forced into playdates with Draco and Pansy, the easiest thing for them to do to make sure I wasn't sitting around doing nothing was to get me a tutor."
