"That's sexy," Xavier admired an elegant Tissot in his hand. "Something to go on the top of my collection."

Valmiki shrugged. "I do buy you the best Christmas gifts every year."

Valmiki Shetty, one of his closest friends, had always been a kind and steady presence in his life.

A silent gentleman, always away from the crowd, far from the limelight, and minding his own business. One could say he was painfully introverted. Yet, despite his quiet nature, he had bonded well with Xavier.

They'd shared a room in the hostel during their college days, but it never felt like a forced friendship—just two decent roommates who gradually became close confidants. The more days they spent together, the more they unraveled each other's guarded layers, becoming something closer than friends—family of sorts.

When Valmiki learned about Xavier's turbulent childhood, something shifted. Maybe it was pity, or maybe it was a desire to bring something light into his friend's life. Either way, he'd declared himself Xavier's "wild Santa," vowing to visit once a year with a gift, just like the mythical Christmas icon, only... less mythical and more profane.

The whole thing was ridiculous and oddly heartwarming. A grown man receiving Christmas presents from another grown man—who wouldn't find humor in that?

"Are you sticking around?" Xavier asked, breaking the silence. "I'd actually like you to come to the New Year's celebrations."

Like Xavier, the man sitting across from him had worked his ass off to become successful. That shared grit and drive had been one of the strongest bonds between them.

"I don't have an excuse this time," Valmiki said with a shrug. "But isn't the party exclusive to the Xhasis crowd?"

"It is," Xavier said, setting the gift down on the coffee table and taking a sip of his whiskey. "But I'm the boss—I can invite whoever the hell I want."

"That arrogance isn't a great example to set," Valmiki said, sipping his coffee. "You haven't changed at all."

Xavier flinched. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Valmiki chuckled. "No offense. It's just... nice to see your confidence hasn't tarnished."

"And you find it bothersome?"

"Sometimes. Especially when you act like an entitled piece of shit," Valmiki said, raising his eyebrows as he continued sipping his coffee.

What was it with everyone trying to slap him with their unsolicited advice lately? He wasn't a narcissist, just a man who knew his worth.
