Chapter 12: Becoming An Avenger

(Two days later)

Y/N's P.O.V

So, it's been two days since I defeated the Lizard and the city is now back to normal.

Dr. Connors was arrested for his crimes and is being held in a ward for the insane.

I'm actually here visiting him as Scarlet Spider as I need to talk to gin about something.

I repel down on a web line and take my mask off.

Y/N: Hello, Dr. Connors.

He turns me.

Curt: Y/N, I didn't expect to see you here. How are you?

Y/N: I'm okay. How are you?

Curt: I'm okay. Or as okay as I can be.

I nod.

Y/N: I understand.

Curt: Y/N, I'd like to apologise for everything I did to you and everyone else as... you know.

Y/N: It's okay, Doc. It wasn't you. People may be mad now, but one day they'll see that.

Curt: I hope you're right. So, why are you here?

I drop down from the web line.

Y/N: I need to ask you something. I discovered a new ability and I was hoping you could tell me how it could've happened.

Curt: What is it?

I activate the claws I discovered.

Y/N: Yesterday when I was on patrol I discovered these and they came out when I was fighting crime.

He looks at them closely from his cell.

Curt: They look like talons.

His eyes widen.

Curt: I think I know how you have those.

Y/N: How?

Curt: When we work creating the enhanced spider's we spliced their DNA with the DNA of other animals to extend their life span. One animal was the Harpy Eagle.

Y/N: So, you think when the spider bit me it transferred the Eagle DNA over as well as it's own.

Curt: Yes. Though, we'd need to do more research to confirm that.

Y/N: Well, I can do that on my end.

Curt: And I'll do what I can from in here. It'd be a good distraction for me.

Y/N: Thank you, Curt.

Curt: Of course. I have alot to make up for.

Just then I get a text from Peter.

He needs me at the Avengers Compound.

Y/N: Sorry, Doc. I gotta get going.

Curt: It's fine. Go on, son.

Y/N: Okay. I'll come back an visit when I can.

He nods.

After that I leave and make my way to Upstate New York.

(One hour later)

(Upstate New York)

I'm now in Upstate New York.

Both my dad and Peter are back home.

They need to talk to about something important.

I walk in to see them together.

Tony: Ah, there he is.

Peter: Hey, Y/N.

Y/N: Hey. So, what's going on?

Peter: We have an important announcement and we thought you should be here for it.

They come over and we walk.

Peter: You did good against the Lizard and you've saved the city.

Tony: You did. And I'm proud of you, son.

Y/N: Thanks, dad.

We walk into the next room.

Peter: Your dad and I have been talking..

Tony: And we think with a little more mentoring, you'll make a great addition to the team.

Y/N: To the... to the team?

Tony: Yep.

We stop.

Tony: Now, there's about fifty reporters through that door. Real ones, not bloggers. Spider-Man and I will use this press conference to introduce the world to one of the newest officially member of the Avengers, Scarlet Spider.

I smile.

Y/N: Wait, really? You guys are making me an Avenger?

Petee: That's right.

Y/N: Oh, wow. Thank you.

I then realise something.

Y/N: Hold on, you said "one of." There's another new Avenger?

Tony: There is.

He turns.

Tony: And she's here now.

I look back and see Cassie Lang.

I smile.

Y/N: Hey, Cassie.

Cassie: Hi, Y/N.

I go over to her and we hug.

We pull away.

Y/N: I didn't expect to see you here.

Cassie: Same here, Scarlet Spider.

I chuckle.

Y/N: So, what's your name then?

Cassie: I'm Stature.

I nod.

Y/N: Not bad.

Peter: Alright, you two. Let's get in there.

Pete and I put our masks on.

We all walk into the press conference.

(The next day)

So, I'm now officially an Avenger and I'm back in the city.

I repel down on a web line join Peter, who's sitting on the ledge.

Peter: I didn't say it before, but I love that suit. So cool.

Y/N: Thanks. I like it too.

I drop down and sit next to him.

Y/N: Pete, does this job ever get easier?

Peter: Some parts do get easier. But other parts never do.

Y/N: How do you handle it though?

Peter: Honestly, the best thing you can do is try and make it right, then do better next time.

Y/N: I guess that makes sense.

Just then we hear police sirens and see cop cars speeding down the street.

Peter and I look at each other.

Peter: Go time?

I nod.

Y/N: Go time.

We fist bump.

After that we swing off and follow the cop cars.

It's time for Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man to save the city.
