Zianna POV

The cell is quite small, closing around me on all sides, making me shrink back into the corner into which I was thrown by the guard. With my face in my hands, I curl up into a ball and cry. I ignore the pain in my knee which is slowly spreading, large sobs racking my body. I do not care anymore. If people want to laugh, let them laugh. After all, nobody seems to care who does what or becomes what anymore in this city. Just hours ago, I strode upon this very path speaking to Arianna, watching others sulk in their cells. Now I am the one sulking, shaking from the pain and crying, oblivious to all activity around me. From huntress to hunted all in the span of a few mere hours.

My whole body throbs from the wound in my knee, the arrow most likely laced with poison of some sort. I have no idea where in the dungeon I am, as it all looks the same to me. Rows upon rows of cells with nothing to distinguish certain rows from others; the execution cells from those belonging to long-term prisoners. Clearing my knotted locks of hair from my face, I take another glance around my cell. At first, nothing seems out of the ordinary, until I come to the ceiling and find an object hanging down from it.

I gracefully scale the stone blocks that make up the cell wall until I reach the ceiling bars and take the shiny object. Once I am back on the floor and get a good look at what is in my hand, a look of pure horror consumes my face. In my hand I hold a silver crown adorned with many precious gems. The gems are placed so that they surround a single orange coloured one as bright as the morning sun. That is, when we still could see the sun here. Then I see the silver inscriptions; except they are not words at all, just lines encircling the orange stone. The lines form a pattern, one of sunlight and its great, heart-warming rays. I realize what this means. The sun of Edilya, the city of Sunlight. This is indeed the Crown of Edilya, one of the seven jewels of Norvia made by the ancient Kings and Queens of old. There is the Sword of Alaeriand, the Jewel of Draevenna, the Crown of Edilya, the Shield of Mesina, the Circlet of Viennara, the Necklace of Vana and lastly, the Staff of Torah. An ancient prophecy states that one will come to possess all seven jewels and rule Norvia. This can explain killing Arianna. It is her crown and my parents want to live to see the prophecy fulfilled.

My hands clamp shut over the silver crown and I sit up against the wall, letting my hair flow in front of my eyes so I cannot see a thing. The pain in my leg intensifies, waves of pain shooting up my body frequently. I begin to feel slightly tired as the effects of the poison tipped arrow set in. I fight to stay conscious, but my head hangs just above my chest and my eyes close.
