"You are under arrest for the murder of Agent Olivia Stephens".

The words keep replaying in my head. I know I didn't kill anyone, let alone Olivia. But does that mean that Olivia is dead? Or is she missing and presumed dead? Did they find a body? And are they sure it is Olivia? Andy there, she know...

No, she can't be dead. She can't be really dead. She is careful, we had an emergency plan.

I've been in this interrogation room all night without any details or updates. I have no idea what is happening. Olivia can't be dead! She can't be gone.

The door of the interrogation room opens and one of the higher executives walks in. I stop shaking to hide any sign of weakness. "I want my phonecall" I demand

"You haven't even asked why you're here" he replies

"They told me why and it is a mistake. That is why I haven't asked for a lawyer yet. I want my phone call" I insist.

He opens a file and puts a paper in front of me. "Two weeks ago, you sent Agent Stephens a package containing a syringe full of potassium chloride" he brings up

"We proved that that package did not come from me" I remind him.

"But this came in last night at 5:23 pm" he says.

I check the paper. There is a text message with numbers to 911. They look like coordinates, and if I'm not mistaken I'd guess it's to somewhere close here.

"And the message was traced to your cell phone" he says

"Well, I didn't sent it. I was out of town at that time. Check with the Philadelphia police" I point out

"That is true. However, the coroner puts the time of death more than 20 hours before that message. And let me tell you that 20 hours before that you were seen leaving the bureau close after Agent Stephens" he reminds me

"Yes. She was going to interview someone, while I was headed to the airport. Our ways parted a few blocks down the bureau" I inform him

"Who was she interviewing?" he asks

"I don't know, she mentioned Crisis Management being out and that she was closer to the person they were looking for, so she was going to cover it" I explain

"Crisis Management is not out, Agent. They've been here since the beginning of the week" he reveals. Olivia...

"Half an hour after your message, authorities found Agent Olivia Stephens' body on those exact coordinates" he explains as he lays out the crime scene photos.

Tears fill my eyes as I see the burned body. My stomach turns at the thought that this used to be my Liv. And now she's...

I flip through the pages and I see a photo of her credentials on the crime scene. I freeze and relief washes over me. I almost smile.

"This is staged" I state

"Her ID is clearly there" he points

"No. She didn't have her badge on her that day. I remember because she called me that morning to check if I could find it in the house and get it to her but I had already left"

"The house?" he questions

"Yes. Olivia and I have been in a relationship and recently moved in together. There is no rule that forbids that as long as it doesn't affect our performance and you can actually see the results for yourself if you'd like" I suggest.

"Interesting... Because most of your team members would swear on the two of you fighting like cats and dogs. Hell, I've even heard one of your nasty fights before. And she had to suspend you once" he brings up

"Sure, there were some disagreements in the beginning..." I confirm

"So you do have a short temper when it comes to Agent Stephens. That explains the phone call..." he opens his laptop and presses play.

"Going home?" I ask
"Not yet, that's why I'm calling. Something came in and I think I'll be late. Go home" Olivia replies. It's our last phonecall.
"No, I'm not going without you"
"I'll call you when I'm done".
Here is the whispering in the back.
"Who are you with, Olivia?" I question
"No one" she lies
"Olivia--"
"Aaron, I'll meet you later at our place. I gotta go now" she hangs up.

"Now everything clicks. You have a temper, you hear someone else in the background during the call, you demand to know who it is, you get angry, you follow her to catch her in the act, and you kill her" he makes up a theory

"You're grasping. This is all circumstantial. I only asked who it was with her because I was worried about her. She has been in great danger for a few months now. Agent Swann can confirm that to you. So the more we sit here, the more time Agent Stephens is being held somewhere against her will by Dwayne Chax. When I last saw her she was safely driving away in her car with Agent Rosaline Johnson, that's all I know"

"Agent Johnson reports seeing you and Agent Stephens arguing after their interview" he says

I smile, "You just said that there was no interview because Crisis Management isn't on any case currently" I remind him. "I think you need to get your sources checked" I add.

The door bursts open and Andy comes in. She drops a file on the table, "He is innocent. DNA results are back, the body you found wasn't Olivia. Chax has Olivia" she says and takes the cuffs off. "I'm sorry about all this Hotch, I had to play their game until I had more evidence" she explains

"I want access to everything" I demand

"You got it".

We leave the interrogation room and she comes with me to the BAU's bullpen. All eyes are on me as we go to my office. They probably heard what happened by now.

"15 years ago, when they were undercover, it took 26 hours for Agent Rosaline Johnson to notify the squad that Olivia is missing. Why?" I question

"Rosaline went out unsupervised one night. She came back in the morning, was sleeping it off all day, and by the time she woke up it was night again and she thought Olivia was sleeping" she explains

"Was that the first time that something like that happened?" I ask

"Yes"

"That's convenient... Because now, the last person who saw Olivia was, again, Rosaline" I point out.

Dave comes in without knocking. "Bring the case to the team. The three of us are all too close to this so the more minds that work on this, the better chances we have" he tells me

"Olivia wouldn't like for any more people to find out those details of her life" I reply

"Olivia wouldn't want to be with Chax right now. So unless you have a plan set already, use the people you have. You think they don't see the worry and stress all over your face? They know you're hiding something, they will figure it out sooner or later. And I will not let Olivia die again because you want to protect your secrets".

"Gather everyone in the conference room. We're briefing now" I order.
