Chapter 24

A transparent blue interface opened on the screen and showed a page of empty boxes and 0's next to icons for silver, gold, diamonds, and crystals. Xiao Yi's mouth twitched and he leaned back in contemplation.

'Where'd my currency go?'

'Was I robbed?'

'I don't even have trash in my bag, what the hell.'

Sadly, he'd never find his answer and he was a broke little assassin.

Scratch that - his class wasn't even an assassin right now, it was a sword master. He was a broke little sword master who didn't even want to be a sword master...

He opened the equipment button and sighed in relief. At least he'd had the good sense to keep his armor and weapon, that's all he really needed.

The interface closed and there were now a bunch of little players surrounding him, having gotten word that a max-level black name-plated player was in the city. These little players were smarter than the other little players in the sense that they at least realized they were in a safe zone, but it was annoying.

Although he'd wanted to go to the nearest warehouse before going to his house...

[Sleepy! Want to join a top 5 guild?]

[Hello mister hidden god.]

[Hey, don't steal him - we were here first!]

[Open up your invites!]

'Fucking hell.'

His fingers fluidly danced along the keys, the Blood Elf on the screen creating hand signs in the air with particles painting a symbol. A moment later, the Blood Elf disappeared in front of their eyes.

Although low-level characters need to take boats to get to other continents, Xiao Yi was thankful that he'd been smart enough to level his characters despite being disinterested in the questing process.

The Blood Elf appeared in another city, this one obviously reminiscent of Ancient China with shops and homes built with thatch roofs and wooden poles. It was surrounded in three directions, enclosed to the outside world by mountains overgrown with cherry blossom trees. Only a small path led through a piece of the mountain, barely wide enough to allow for a carriage to fit.

The other side faced the ocean, which Xiao Yi could just barely see through the buildings but he knew that there were shops overlooking the ocean, arching off the land and into the air to be supported by pillars drilled into the ocean floor along with a magnificent boardwalk and harbor for boats.

Despite its ethereal beauty and tranquility, there weren't many players in this city. Only a few stalls were open on the streets compared to the first continent's city, but it was his favorite space. Mainly because it was so calm, but it was also the most picturesque city and area in the game in his opinion.

Sleepy turned and entered the class master building, located conveniently next to the spawn point. It was a seven-floor building that stuck out like a sore thumb with each floor catered toward a different class, with a different class master and weapons area that would be an old general's wet dream.

Behind the main room was a training area which he directly headed towards to access a secret staircase that led down to the basement. The eighth, hidden floor for the assassins.

He changed his class and his character put down the sword he was using, disappearing into his inventory a moment later. A slimmer, yet longer sword appeared in front of him in the same spot and he placed that on his back.

It was an entry-level sword, nothing special, it was made for the little new players at level ten.

Just like that, he'd changed his class and weapon type and walked out of the tall building, making his way toward his house.

Many players didn't know that there were houses that you could buy in the capital cities, opting to have a house in the floating islands that weren't visible unless prompted. This was because they were already bought out by players a long time ago, though it was a well-known fact that some towns sold houses from time to time.

The players who bought their homes in the capital cities were usually either veteran players who only logged on occasionally or pro players. Needless to say, no one wanted the fan base to figure out whose capital home belonged to whom - it would be annoying.

His house was located at the edge of the city, his backyard facing the mountains and his side yard facing the ocean that was slightly blocked by the homes surrounding him. Approaching it from afar, it looked no different from his neighbors - a quaint, small house with a tiny courtyard. There wasn't even a secondary building.

However, as Sleepy entered the gate, the illusion shattered and it turned into a large courtyard with three houses and a beautiful garden overtaking the backyard.

Even Xiao Yi felt pained when he thought about all the hours he had to spend farming not just gold, but collecting and forging materials to build this home of his. He really had no life.
