As the three of them stepped into the carriage, a thick, eerie silence engulfed them. Asa looked traumatized, her face a ghostly pale and her hands trembling uncontrollably. She seemed lost in her thoughts, and the bumpy carriage ride only worsened things. Maria sat still and beautiful like a swan, her posture impeccable and her eyes fixed on the road ahead. She radiated a sense of calmness that stood in sharp contrast to Asa's panicked state. Meanwhile, Alexander stared at Asa with a deep sense of concern etched on his face.

Maria, sensing the need to break the silence, finally spoke up. "So why are you so scared of Aunt Laire?" she asked Asa, hoping to ease the tension. However, Alexander scolded her for prying into personal information. Maria instantly became quiet, and Asa remained lost in her thoughts.

After a while, Asa finally spoke up. "You guys know how your older brother is my fiancé, right?" Maria and Alexander's heads snapped to attention, startled by the news. "Wait, you guys didn't know?" Maria breathed a sigh of relief, but Alexander still looked at her in disbelief. "You're marrying Lord Angus?" he asked, incredulous.

Asa nodded. "Yes, and your aunt kinda wanted to whip me into shape," she said, looking down. "Wait, go back. You're marrying my brother," Alexander clarified, still struggling to wrap his head around the news. "Yes, but I'd rather marry your sister, not him," Asa said, speaking her mind. "Your older sister is so beautiful with a good personality."

"I don't think that would be allowed, Asa," Maria said innocently. But Asa was too focused on her problems to care about social norms. "Well, the point is your aunt is going to disable me!" she shouted, her voice rising in panic.

Alexander looked at her in shock. He couldn't believe that Asa was so willing to break the rules just to get what she wanted. It felt like a knife had just run through his heart. Meanwhile, Maria couldn't help but feel a little disheartened. She had always harbored feelings for Alexander, but seeing him fawn over a girl he had just met a week ago left her feeling confused and hurt. She wondered why he was so taken with Asa, and why he seemed to like her more than he liked Maria.

Asa gazed at her reflection in the window, admiring her appearance. She couldn't help but feel confident about how she looked, even on a day like this. "Dang, how am I looking this good?" she said, feeling proud of herself. Suddenly, Alexander interrupted her thoughts by saying, "You're noticing now." Maria couldn't help but feel a little disheartened. Seeing him fawn over a girl he had just met a week ago left her feeling confused and hurt. She wondered why he was so taken with Asa, and why he seemed to like her more than he liked Maria. Asa simply replied, "Because I'm beautiful," holding her head high with confidence.
