The morning after you passed
Magpies flew past my window
Perched on the tree branches
Watching over the spot I saw you play
Feathers of black and white
Reminded me of your sweet fur
I knew from when I saw them
It was you, showing me you're there
The magpies followed me to the shops
Sweeping across the chimneys
Guarding the street, watching over me
Just like you used to do
They don't come as often anymore
Laying their nests for spring
But I thank you for in my time of need
Showing me your love through them
