The Loathing and The Loving

"Can we stay like this for few more minutes, oppa?"
He didn't say anything but just hugged you and put his chin on your head as you completely soaked his clothes with your tear; after hugging for a few minutes, you both felt water droplets falling on you, the droplets multiplying fast, Mingi took your hand and you both ran to a convenience store shed nearby, as soon as you reached, you looked at each other, chuckling, not leaving each other's hand; he realised that he was still holding you hand and quickly let go, clearing his throat, you chuckled at his flustered state

"Cute"
You said under your breath

"You wanna get something to eat?"
He asked, still blushing like a tomato

"Yeah sure, but let me get it, since I owe you big time now"
He chuckled a little, both of you trying to lighten the atmosphere

"Alright, I want a chicken triangle kimbap and kiwi juice"
As soon as you heard his order, you went inside and bought the snacks

"Here"
You said as you came back outside with all the snacks and put it on the table Mingi was sitting at, and sat across from his

"Oppa, you surprisingly got hit a lot, you wanna stop by the pharmacy on the way?"
You were genuinely worried whereas Mingi just came up with the most unhinged answer

"Surprisingly? did you think I was a good fighter or something?"
You were surprised by his random answer and let your laugh out, he smiled looking at you finally laughing

"You were acting so brave, trying to protect me that you are the one who might need ointment"
"Look who's talking, you almost lost your consciousness and if hadn't protected you, they probably would've killed you"
He chuckled

"Probably"
You were about to say something when Mingi's phone started ringing

"It's your brother"
Mingi said as he picked up the call of the younger male, you were worried about why Jongho was calling

"Yes, she's with me; don't worry, I'll get her home safely once it stops raining"
He said as he cut the call

"What did he say?"
"Nothing, he was just worried"
You looked down, feeling guilty again, you felt like you always let the people around you down

"I'm a burden, aren't I?"
"Y/n, you're a lot of things but a burden, you remember, when you were in school? How you always told us that your photography made the school proud to have you as a student, how you used to be there for Jongho whenever he needed you, you're his first priority in life, you know that right? Not us, not his career, not even his parents, it's you, of course, feeling like a burden is normal, but you have to keep fighting and remember that you have a purpose in life"
You stayed silent, amazed by his choice of words, totally lifting up your mood, maybe not convincing you still, but rather motivating you to keep going, your eyes teared up

"Oppa..."
You tried speaking, but totally failed due to the loss of words; he looked at you with so much care, you were not used to this at all, it felt safe, he felt safe

"Y/n, whatever's going on, you don't have to tell me, but remember that Jongho and me are your friends, not drugs or flings"
You were confused for a second when he said flings but realised what he meant, he read your expression and replied

"Yes I knew, and I also know you don't actually like him, he's gorgeous, so I get that you would go for it, but you and I both know that it wouldn't be for the right reasons"
"You didn't say anything?"
"Yeah well, I'm good at keeping things to myself, so don't worry, I won't tell anyone about what happened today as well, but you have to promise me not to do drugs again, that's how you'll be paying me back for today"
"But-"
"No buts, I know it'll be difficult, but that's why I'm here, if you even have thoughts about it, I want you to call me, if you feel like you can't sleep, call me, if you feel like you don't wanna live on, call me, anything, anytime, call me, even if it is just because you want ice cream"
You chuckled at his last sentence, he had a way of comforting you, he always did, even before you went to college, you would always reach out to either Jongho or him

"Look, the rain stopped"
You looked at the droplets slowing down

"Let's go home now, shall we?"
You nodded and chuckled at his behaviour; you both stood up, but right before you both were about to walk, you hugged him

"Thank you, oppa, I'm really grateful"
"It's my pleasure, sweetheart"
He said and hugged you back and broke the hug to look at each other, flashing a smile and starting walking towards your home, you didn't talk a lot while walking and just admired the comfortable environment

"Oppa, you can sleep in Jongho's room, it's pretty late, don't go home alone, since I won't be there to protect you"
You said, making Mingi chuckle, you both standing in front of your door, before he could reply, you held his hand and dragged him inside, at this point, he just did as you said, because he knew that you wouldn't listen to anything he says

"Make sure to text Jongho that you've reached home safely"
"Okay oppa"
You nodded, pushing him inside Jongho's room, as Jongho was at his apartment with the guys, since they all lived together, you texted Jongho that you and Mingi reached home and that Mingi is sleeping in his room since it's too late, his reply was just an 'okay' but on the other side of the phone, he body was finally able to relax and he drifted off to sleep

- Later that night

You still couldn't sleep, this was the first time in years that you tried sleeping without smoking a joint, you realised how dependent on drugs you had gotten, your thoughts started taking a dark turn, you didn't know what to do, you squeezed you eyes, trying your best to sleep, but the thoughts were getting worse every second, suddenly you heard a knock on the door

"Y/n, are you awake?"
You knew it was Mingi, you quickly ran up to the door and opened it, hugging him, not even giving him a chance to speak

"Thank you for coming"
"Are you okay?"
You shook your head, as you both walked inside your room, closing the door, sitting on the bed

"Don't worry, like I said, I'm always here"
"I can't sleep oppa"
"I know, its a common side effect of quitting marijuana, its okay, you just have to stay strong"
You nodded

"C-can you-"
"Yes, don't worry, I'll stay with you for the night"
Even though this was an reoccurring event, you were still amazed by the way he could read your mind, you both lied down, as you hugged him and he patted your head, letting you sleep on his chest; soon you both drifted off to sleep in each other's embrace

- Flashback

Mingi was too worried about you, he didn't show it but his heart was still aching, thinking was could hurt you so much that you needed drugs to run away from it, he couldn't sleep thinking about you, too worried; he opened his phone, searching about what happens when you quit marijuana, he read a lot of things and his eyes landed on a word that caught his attention, 'insomnia', and that was it for him, he got up from his bed and went to your room, he hesitated, thinking that you might be asleep, but finally got the courage to knock, and as he had expected, you were awake
