Taecyeon finally sat down beside Mingyu at their kitchen table, his expression serious.

"Y/n has been arrested" he began, his voice low. "It's your chance with Sharon, isn't it?"

Mingyu forced a laugh, trying to mask his unease. "Yeah, I guess it is" he replied, his tone falsely upbeat. He knew his father was right, but something about the situation felt off.

———

Sharon sat at an expensive bar, a glass of wine in her hand, the dim lighting casting a soft glow over her features.

She swirled the drink absentmindedly, her mind elsewhere, when Mingyu approached. He slid onto the stool next to her with a charming smile.

"Hey, Sharon" Mingyu greeted her smoothly. "Fancy seeing you here."

Sharon glanced at him, her expression polite but detached. "Hello, Mingyu" she replied, taking a sip of her wine. "What brings you here tonight?"

"Just enjoying the evening" Mingyu said, his tone casual. "And hoping for some good company."

Sharon offered a small smile, though her eyes remained distant. "Well, you've found me. How have you been?"

Mingyu launched into a conversation, trying to engage her with stories and jokes, but Sharon's responses were polite and minimal.

She maintained her composure, listening and nodding at the right moments, but her disinterest was evident.

She was there, but her heart and mind were somewhere else entirely.

Mingyu leaned in slightly, his eyes glinting with a mix of determination and charm.

"You know, Sharon, I've always admired your resilience" he said, his voice smooth. "You've been through so much, yet here you are, still standing strong."

Sharon nodded, her gaze drifting to her glass. "Yes, life has its challenges" she replied, her thoughts wandering back to Y/n and Hana.

She wondered if Hana had eaten dinner yet, or if Y/n had managed to get any sleep in the prison. The bar's noise faded into the background as her mind swirled with concerns.

"Exactly" Mingyu continued, unaware of her distraction. "And that's why I think you deserve better, Sharon. Someone who can really appreciate you, understand you." He smiled, hoping to catch her attention.

Sharon's eyes flickered back to him, her expression polite but distant.

"Appreciation is important" she said vaguely, her mind still on Y/n.

She recalled the night they had shared in the garden, Y/n's words echoing in her mind about how she admired Sharon's strength and resilience.

The irony wasn't lost on her now as Mingyu echoed similar sentiments.
