Behind a smile, a hidden ache,
I laugh, but inside, tears break.
Jumping in joy, but chains pull tight,
Drowning in silence, out of sight.
Living a life, but dying within,
Aches eating, a constant din.
Clock ticks on, but time stands still,
Boredom in chaos, a void to fill.
Pain is familiar, an old, worn friend,
No climax, just a circle that won't bend.
Hiding behind a mask so fine,
Love I give, but is never mine.
Broken and shattered, can't be fixed,
Love to give, but feeling nixed.
Wishing not for hatred, just to be seen,
Longing for love, in the in-between.
A smile conceals a silent cry,
Comforting others, while asking why.
Hoping for a love that never came,
In the echo of silence, whispering my name.
