Diego's laughter echoes through the kitchen, blending with the sizzling sounds of breakfast being prepared. His mother, noticing his elation, can't help but inquire about the source of his happiness.

"Diego, what's got you in such high spirits? Has payday arrived?"

Diego, still chuckling, reassures his mother,

"Not yet, Mom. The paycheck is on its way next week."

"I'm just excited because today, I've planned a trip to Angono. I need some time to relax, and there's an art exhibit I've been eager to see."

His mother, offering a mix of caution and support, replies,

"Alright, just be careful out there. And when you come back, pick up some Suman (rice cake) and kasoy (roasted cashew nuts) from Antipolo, okay? Treat yourself; your happiness is worth more to me than any salary."

Diego nods appreciatively, acknowledging the unconditional support and understanding from his caring mother. Diego expressed his deep gratitude and affection towards his mother as he sincerely uttered,

"Thank you, Mom; I love you."

His words resonated with genuine warmth, reflecting the profound connection and appreciation he held for the woman who had played a pivotal role in shaping his life. Diego's sentiment conveyed not only a simple expression of thanks but also a heartfelt acknowledgment of the love and support he had consistently received from his mother.

Diego swiftly concluded his morning routine, indulging in a refreshing shower and meticulously organizing his belongings in anticipation of his upcoming journey to Angono. Once satisfied with his preparations, he bid a heartfelt farewell to his mother, expressing gratitude for her well wishes on his trip. Eager and ready, Diego boarded a tricycle that would transport him to the bustling jeep terminal.

Upon arriving at the terminal, he was warmly welcomed by his friend Jonas, who inquired about the destination, pondering if it was a considerable distance away. Diego chuckled and assured Jonas that it was just a stone's throw away, creating a lighthearted atmosphere. Seated in the Jeep, Diego felt an inexplicable sense of happiness and liberation—a unique emotion he couldn't quite articulate. As the vehicle navigated the streets, he seized the moment to enhance his experience by plugging in his earplugs and connecting to his cellphone. Delving into the vast array of music on Spotify, Diego carefully curated his favorite playlist, immersing himself in the melodies that resonated with his soul. With a newfound sense of joy and freedom, he contemplated the journey ahead, silently vowing to make such escapes a regular occurrence.

"From now on, I'll make it a point to do this more often,"

He declared to himself, savoring the promise of future adventures and the simple pleasures of life.

Diego reached Angono in no time—a mere two-hour drive from Manila, traffic permitting, of course. This small town packs in an impressive array of galleries and art spaces. Nestled within the province of Rizal, Angono boasts forest parks, tranquil lakesides, and the historic San Clemente Church. But its artistic treasures are what draw the crowds: the ancient Angono Petroglyphs and the vibrant street murals along Doña Aurora Street. One of these was even created by the legendary Filipino muralist and National Artist, Carlos "Botong" Francisco. No wonder Angono is known as the 'Art Capital of the Philippines!' Diego grinned as he made his way to the Giant Dwarf Art Space, its name inspired by the town's iconic Higante (giant) and Nuno (dwarf) folk figures. 'Maybe I have a future as a tour guide,' he mused."
