๑the next day๑

I barely got any sleep last night, partially because I'm starting a new job and partially because of that night. As much as I hate to admit, I've never had a boyfriend or even like a middle school crush, yeah I've had celebrity crushes and fictional crushes, all that, but in real life... I'm pretty inexperienced, and I know that sounds really pick me but genuinely, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I mean I've only known him, well, not that I know him, but I've only ever like talked to him twice

And here I am, staring at myself in the mirror..

I zoned out, getting ready was a blur

I'm kinda torn, on one hand I really wanna talk to him and get to know him but on the other hand I really really don't want to go through that, everytime I interact with him I lose all physical abilities. I can't think, can't speak, can't stand, can't breathe

Honestly it's embarrassing how head over heels I am for this guy that probably thinks I'm insane, good thing I won't have time to think about him today, I'm getting trained for my new job as a barista at a cafe

"Hi y/n! I'm avi and I'm in charge of the bakery portion of this cafe so I'll be handing you off to Neil today for training" she smiles kindly at me as if she's waiting for me to say something

'what did she just-

"I said, I will be handing you off to Neil for training today" she smiles again as I hear some rummaging in the back room

Are you kidding me

"Yeah hold on!- sorry-" he appears in the doorframe, tying his apron around his waist before looking up at me

"Oh, y-y/n I didn't know you- you-"

"Wh- Neil? Hold on-"

"Oh you both know each other already? Perfect. Okay I'll leave you both, we're opening in half an hour and I have to get to work"

We both just kinda stood and stared at each other for a second

"What a surprise.. that uh.. we both work here... Haha" I said trying to break the awkward silence but failing and creating more

"Uh.. " his voice trailed off, "right yeah, sorry, I didnt think that you would be who I was training today, I guess I was just caught a bit off guard.."

"I understand... I definitely didn't expect this so.."

Okay so I have to work. With him here.

"Okay well, uh, this shouldn't take too long, today all you have to learn is how to use the tablet for orders and we can't do that until we open so... Is there anything you want to learn??"

"Um not necessarily.."

I paused

"Wait what about the swan thing?"

"Yeah, it takes a few tries but...I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.." he said smiling slightly

"First we have to make the latte though, we'll make extra so you can try again if we need to" he said grabbing a few things

I just stood there watching him behind the counter because i didn't know what to do but I guess he could sense me or something

"If you want to come over here and watch me, you can." He said not turning around to look at me, still focused on making the coffee

"Oh, right.."

He grabbed a mug from a shelf I thought was just for decoration and handed it to me, kindly smiling at me for a second before turning back to what he was working on and finishing it
