It's a few minutes until the game starts
Alex promised she was gonna be here
Even if she isn't a fan of social events she still agreed that she was gonna come to cheer me on
We've been together for the past month and she's been doing a lot out of her character profile just to make me happy

I scan the area one more time before I call my team so we can prep for the game
Lucas as always comes to annoy the shit outta me

" Hello, losers cats " Lucas chimes in breaking our team huddle
" If you wanna talk to us, can you at least get the name right" Arnold our shoot gaurd says
" Oh no no no, I'm just calling you guys by the name you're supposed to go by. You guys ain't no wolves and you know that Jake, even cats could do better. " He pauses to give a menacingly evil smirk before he continues
" Your team strength has grown ever so weak since Elijah left and today we're gonna beat you, Right porcupines " he says the last part as a hail and they all cheer back
See this is why they lose every fucking year they spend so much time talking and less practicing or strategizing
Although this time around I want to talk back but No he doesn't even give me time to respond, he just backs away and leaves me in fury
Elijah, my best friend and one of our strongest players
I would even argue that he's a better basketball player than I am
But he and his family had to move away about a week before school resumed and the gap he left both in my life and the team we haven't been able to fill, I mean we talk, chat and stuff but it's just not the same
And Lucas knows just how much it fucking upsets me, so yeah he had to bring it up

I really need her to calm me down
I look back one more time but Arnold cuts me off
" C'mon, dude they're starting"
And then he pulls me away to my position

This sucker literally never plays with his team
I always do cause I'm basically their major strength since Elijah's not here
But Lucas always sits on the corner bench and complains

They're three points ahead of us and we've got only two minutes left
I must say they've gotten stronger now and literally only a miracle could save us now
I would have been that miracle but I'm basically not even present here and it's all thanks to one doe eyed, caramel haired girl
Alex still hasn't showed up
And the game is almost over

They beat us in our own territory
And Suddenly all I can see is red
I need to get outta here before I do something I'll regret
" Hey Jake, where are you going, won't you stay and celebrate with us" Lucas says waving the in my face
I give him no response, I just keep walking
I hear Britney call out to me too but I still don't turn around
Where the fuck is Alex?
And my question gets answered when she runs into the locker room like she's being chased by a fucking tiger
" Hey Jake, I'm so sorry I'm late" she said breathing heavily
And I just suddenly feel everything crumble
Don't take your anger out on her Jake
It's not her fault, she has a possibly very good explanation
But fuck it's already too late cause I don't even realize I'm talking until I hear my words
" Late? You missed the whole fucking game, if you weren't gonna come you should have just said so, I didn't force you when you refused to attend the other matches did I? And here I was hoping you'd show up, I kept on looking back to see you but like the antisocial dork you are you didn't show up "
" Jake you don't- you know what just"
" Just what Alex, nothing you say can fix this, I lost the game and it's all because of you, just get the fuck away from me before I say or do something we'll both regret"
She looks stunned, confused and very hurt
Just looking at her makes me want to take all the things I just said back
But I can't
Like I said it's all too late
So I just walk away and leave her standing there alone

" Jake you weren't yourself back there, literally everyone brains could tell, what's going on " she says the last part a lot more quieter
And I can tell she's really worried
" Nothing " I respond evenly
She just stares at me and when I still don't talk, she just sighs q
" Fine, if you don't wanna tell me at least let me take you home"
I have a protest ready at the tip of my tongue but she cuts me off
"And Don't say no Jake, you know you need me"
And with that I let her lead me to her car and then we leave the school
