Cassandra walked out from the office building and picked up her phone to call her boyfriend Alex to ask what he wanted for dinner.

She had just got off from work and her stomach made a noise, telling her that it was time to eat.

Every Friday she and Alex would get take out to celebrate making it through another work week and this week it was his turn to choose what to eat.

Her phone rang four times before he picked up.

"Hey" Alex answered and Cassandra could her chatter in the background. "What is it?"

"Where are you? I thought we were meeting up after work?" Cassandra said, confused at the sound in the background.

It sounded like chatter and clinking of glasses and cutlery. By this time Alex would usually be home and curled up on the sofa.

"I'm sorry, I'm stuck at work and I'll probably be here a while. Can we take a rain check?" he asked, sounding like he was in a hurry to hang up.

"Oh, yeah sure. I'll see if Jay and Will are free. Have a great night, I love you" Cassandra answered and Alex hung up without saying anything else.

Cassandra thought that he was just stressed and that she shouldn't worry. She trusted Alex.

Because she was alone, she decided to grab herself supper from her favourite Greek restaurant.

As she drove there, she pressed the speed dial of her eldest brother, hoping that he was free. Will answered after the first ring.

"Hey kiddo..." he said and Cassandra rolled her eyes at the nickname because even if she was now 25, Jay and Will still called her kiddo. Hey, she was only a couple years younger than them. "To what do I owe the pleasure that you called me today?" he continued in an amused voice.

"I wondered if you and Jay would like to have dinner and a sleepover with me? Alex got held up at work and I don't feel like being alone tonight" she asked.

"Yeah sure, I'll call Jay if you pick up food" Will said.

"Greek sound good?" Cassandra asked and Will agreed, saying a quick I love you before hanging up.

Cassandra sent a quick text to Alex telling him that she would sleep at Wills before picking up the takeaway. Before she drove to Wills, she decided to stop by her apartment to pack an overnight bag.

Just as she was supposed to pack the last things in her overnight bag, the front door opened. Cassandras stomach fluttered happily, knowing that it was Alex coming home.

She walked out from the bathroom to see something that would break her heart in a million pieces. Alex wasn't alone. He had his tongue down another girls throat.

They didn't notice Cassandra standing there frozen until both of them were almost completely undressed.

It was the other girl that noticed Cassandra first and it wasn't until she stopped kissing Alex that he noticed her.

"Cassandra" he began but she was having none of it. The shock was replaced with anger and hurt as soon as her name came out of his mouth.

"We're over. I don't care what you have to say. I never wanna see your face again" Cassandra said, her tone deathly calm. She then grabbed her bag and walked out.

The fact that Alex didn't even try to stop her from leaving, made it hurt even more. She didn't allow herself to cry until she got to her car but when she got to her car, the tears flooded.
