"Hey, hey now... don't cry, yume-chan. It's only a little scrape..." Uchiha Shisui soothes his crying sister, who fell over in the forest.

The rough, rock ridden, ground skinned Kiyume's knees as she tripped, the 4 year old's delicate pale skin easily ruptured by the abrasive surface.

She sniffles, wiping her nose.

"See? No problem. Now let me just bandage them up, Kiyume-chan, and we can carry on!" He grins, planting a gentle kiss on her knee.

Shisui carefully applies plasters to cover the raw flesh exposed by the graze, patting Kiyume's head as he finishes.

"Be strong for me, okay Kiyume-chan?"

Uchiha Kiyume lounges on a river bank, her feet dangling into the cool water. Her brother sits down next to her, equally relaxed and comfortable.

"Such a nice day, isn't it, imouto?" He squints his eyes at the surrounding clearing, "and... this seems like the perfect place to see how your aim has been getting along."

Shisui grins smugly. He knows his little sister hates practicing throwing kunai, no matter how much she practices, she can never get it right. And it frustrates her beyond belief. He finds is very entertaining — watching her pout and sit down stubbornly in refusal.

Kiyume groans, flopping down onto her back and squeezing her eyes shut.

"No! I hate throwing kunai!"

Her whining makes him chuckle.

"Come on, yume-chan. If you hit the bullseye, I'll treat you to some Ningyōyaki* and Konpeitō*. How's that sound?"

The young girl's eyes immediately brighten at the promise of sugar and she clambers up, taking some kunai from her pouch.

Shisui smiles to himself. He knows exactly how to motivate his little sister ...

... and also just wanted an excuse to eat sweets.

a/n: definitions:
*Ningyōyaki is a bite-sized cake, often filled with red bean paste and made in a cast iron mold.
*Konpeitō is a rock sugar candy, often compared to the appearance of confetti. Direct translation means 'kawaii' or 'cute'

Idk whether I'm going to continue the flashback in the next chapter or just leave it. Any suggestions would be great.
