"Woah~" Emi muttered slightly intimidated by her fellow second years and her senpais, "they are ready to go all out."
"Man, I'm nervous," Asada said as he saw the glares that came from the opposite dugout.
"The coach is going to be the umpire," Kukki said, amazed at how intense the look of his upperclassmen were giving him and the other first years. I guess he wants an up-close view."
"Twenty players can be on the first string roster and another twenty can be on the second string." Seto noted as he stood beside Okumura who was cleaning his catcher glove. "If you get on the second string, you'll have more opportunities to play in practice games, and since all the jersey numbers have been discarded, you even have a chance to make the first string."
"You two first need to make it to second string," Emi informed her underclassman having heard Seto's words, "your senpais aren't going to go easy on you."
"Yeah." Okumura said determined to win.
"Good luck with your start," Asada cheered on Kukki.
"Thanks!" The boy said with a big smile before walking towards Okumura. "I was looking forward to forming a battery with you, Okumura Koshu. Yuuki Masashi and Yui Kaoru are first years and already have spots on the roster. We'll have our own chances too."
"You'll get your chance, Kukki-kun!" Emi reassured the boy. "Focus on the first pitch. right?"
"Emi-senpai is right. Be careful where you put the ball," Okumura said. "Even the team members who aren't on the bench take practice swings and their hits go faster than any other team's. To them, we're a big, giant target... for them to show their skills."

Emi quietly took notes on how Kukki moved on the mound. She also quietly took some notes on the second and third years despite knowing that Sachiko had it covered.
The first years really are having a hard time against the upperclassman, but Kukki-kun seems very calm about it, he must be very frustrated on the inside, isn't he? Emi thought to herself as she watched Takatsu play cleanup batter. Takatsu-kun has also been swinging well, I guess him and the others who are practicing their swings on that dark alley have been paying off.
"Okumura-kun, Asada-kun, go warm up your shoulders," Emi called the soon-to-be-formed battery. "Make sure to communicate well with each other."
"Yes ma'am."
The first years continued on to make a lot of mistakes on the field. Emi noticed that the first years were all starting to lose hope until a voice sounded from the mound.
"TWO OUTS! WE'RE GONNA SHUT THEM DOWN!" Kukki cheered despite his fatigue and frustration. "IF THE BALL COMES YOUR WAY, TAKE CARE OF IT!"
"Y-yes! Let's stop them!"
