"Hey, Okumura!" Sawamura called, "I'm pitching batting drills today, wanna catch?"

"Wow, senpai came to ask in person," Kukki told both Asada and Emi.

"Yeah," Asada nodded.

"No, thanks. I'll pass," Okumura said respectfully.

"Burn Sawamura, you just got rejected by a first year," Emi smirked teasingly.

"EH?!" Sawamura asked in shock.

"I still didn't make it to the first string yet," Okumura told his upperclassman.

"Wait! This is practice! I'm here asking you to catch!" Sawamura said indignantly.

"That's why I have to refuse," Okumura said bluntly. "I promised to catch you when I get to the first string."

"You're such a pain-- such a finicky guy!" Sawamura exclaimed, trying to approach the boy who had a fiery aura surrounding him. "A powerful barrier! I can't get any closer!"

"Sawamura-senpai," Kaoru called the pitcher, "would you mind if I played catcher?"

"That would be great, young Yui!" Sawamura exclaimed gratefully.

Emi watched the pitcher in amusement before turning to Furuya who stared at Okumura in curiosity. "You do know you can ask Okumura-kun to catch for you, don't you, Furuya-kun?" The girl said, nudging his arm with her elbow.

"I'm pitching in the bullpen today, do you want to catch?" Furuya asked Okumura after remembering what Miyuki had told him the previous night.

"Don't. Furuya. You're asking the wrong guy. I asked him to and he refused." Sawamura said making a stop sign to Furuya. "It's like trying to tame a wild wolf."

"Are you okay with me catching for you?" Okumura asked, shocking everyone.

"Sure." Furuya replied.

"Thank you."

"Don't thank him!" Sawamura scolded Okumura, shocked that the catcher would accept Furuya's request but not his. "Why did you say 'no' to me but not to him?!"

"Calm down, Sawamura," Emi tried calming down her friend.

"This makes it seem like you hate me! Are you okay with that?!" Sawamura continued ignoring Emi's request.

"I've never caught one of Furuya-san's pitches yet," Okumura explained.

"I see!" Sawamura exclaimed, convinced but still angry about Okumura rejecting him.

"Sawamura, your true feelings are still showing," Emi sweatdropped.

"As a catcher, I'm curious what his pitches are like," Okumura admitted, making Sawamura glare at the catcher even more.

"Sawamura, stop glaring," Emi muttered in a deadpan face.

"Then, I'll see you there," Furuya said calmly, ignoring Sawamura's glares.

"Right."

"Why am I so ticked off?!" Sawamura exclaimed as the third years approached the group.

"That's why you should calm down, Sawamura," Emi told the pitcher, giving him a head chop.

"Why are those two pairing up with first years?" Maezono asked, looking at the interaction curiously.

"Is it your doing?" Kuramochi asked, turning to Miyuki.

"I wanted to see how well they can teach the first years," Miyuki answered with a smug smile. "I didn't know they'd come up with that combination, though if it goes well, they'll improve quickly, and even if it doesn't, it's still valuable experience. I'll ask them about it after practice."
