[Caroline Cordovin's Office]
Caroline stood by Mercury, who nervously sweating. In front of them was Artemis, Mercury's twin sister. Her expression read as flabbergasted upon meeting her brother.
Earlier on, Mercury had told Caroline his story. While he revealed how his father Marcus Black separated him from his mother and sister and harshly trained him, he left out the parts about being trained to be an assassin, Marcus's abuse, the lie that Marcus killed his mother, killing Marcus, and the assignments he has taken after Marcus's death. This was out of fear of incarceration and that the news would keep him from knowing more about his family.
Instead, he lied and said that his father was training a warrior to use for his own devious agenda, a half-truth, and that his father died on a mission, a complete lie.
He did tell the truth, stating that someone reached out and told him he had relatives other than Marcus, which led him to seek our Caroline Cordovin. While wanting to know more about his other family, Mercury was still hesitant to reveal the rest of his past.
Although taken aback by his story, Caroline was skeptical and tried to research more of Mercury's background, but couldn't find any on him or Marcus Black. It was almost as if someone or some force erased all traces of the two.
[At the Spider's Bar]
Lil' Miss Malachite sneezed before rubbing her nose.
[Back with the Cordovins]
Even though Mercury's past was shrouded, Caroline couldn't ignore the DNA results.
And despite the reputation she built up as being rigid and militaristic, she was curious and somewhat empathetic. She didn't see the harm in letting him meet his family, while still keeping an eye on him. She looked at Mercury, who was still nervous.
A hurricane of anxiety was enveloping Mercury, who was face to face with his sister...And he wasn't the only one having a nervous, sibling reunion.
[Cotta Household]
Saphron couldn't believe it. Her little brother was right in front of her after all these months.
The same brother she helped raise. The same brother who lifted her spirits after her missions. The same brother who helped bring her son to this world...
...The same brother who she abandoned. The same brother who needed her help, but received none from her. The same brother who mercilessly brutalized and killed his enemies.
She was extremely nervous as she recalled how her brother committed so many atrocities, including the Gu Prison Break, and the fight or rather massacre of hunters, including the hospitalization of her former cousins.
She looked at Terra, who looked very anxious. Then, she focused on the giggling Adrian with Jaune. Rather than feel joy, she felt terror.
Needless to say, she believed the reason he was here was not a good one.
Jaune could sense Saphron's apprehension.
"Saphron," Jaune said calmly.
He put his hands out, presenting Adrian, who took notice of his mother. He started to giggle.
"Mama!" He exclaimed happily as he reached out his little hands.
Saphron was frightened, not knowing what was going on.
"What are you doing? Don't you want to hold him?"
"W-What?" Saphron asked with a mix of confusion and fear.
