Sometimes in life, words are not needed. The only thing Hester craved was Anadil, her chest pressed against Hester's, her arms wrapping around her in a lover's embrace. Hester's lips grazed Anadil's cheekbones. Her features were so sharp and defined. Once she thought people like Anadil only existed on paper or through countless rounds of plastic jutted into their faces. Yet Anadil just breathing, being there proved her wrong.

But from the very bottom of her heart she knew this was wrong. She knew Ani deserved better. Anadil didn't need to mother her every single time she came home with a hangover, drunk on things stronger than the alcohol in the bar.

"I love you. I'm sorry. It's never gonna happen again." she whispered again and again into Anadil's ears. Soon the words became almost a false promise, an overrated song played over and over and

over

                over

                                      over

                                                           over

again. These words became the only thing holding the two of them together, bounded only by their love. It was as if it was a ribbon, it strings slowly being undone as the words flowed out of her mou-

"No."

The world froze, focusing only on the two of them. No? Had it slipped out of Hester's mouth by accident?

"No." This time Hester identified the owner of the voice. It was not in fact her. It was Anadil. Her thin lips by some miracle became thinner. They were pressed together so tight, her face looked contorted. Tears brimmed the inside of her red eyes, making them look like a pool of blood.

Hester couldn't think. Her brain was so numb. Malfunctioning even. She couldn't remember the last time she was so caught up in love. All of a sudden, she was falling. The wooden boards of the room seemed to disappear, all swirling into one jumble...

"I'm sorry Hester. I can't deal with your bullshit anymore. Each time you do this to me, you apologize- you say you love me. But yet the next time you hurt me even more. I am sick of this fucking mess. You can call me a bitch, an asshole, a shitty girlfriend but that cannot make up for the fact that you are a goddamn cheater!" Anadil screamed. Her scarlet eyes closed, leaving a single tear trailing down her pale face.

"I am leaving this place. Go back the that piece of shit if you love him that much." Anadil whispered, her voice breaking like the cracks of bone.

Heat rushed to Hester face. Anger and pain boiled underneath her, trembling like the lava of a volcano threatening to burst open any minute. There are reasons why she refused to dabble in love. After Billy. After Esme. Now Anadil. People like her didn't deserve the perfect fairy ending. Not like Agatha and Tedros. Or even Dot and her stupid weakling of a girlfriend, Kiko. People like her would wander through Earth billions of times and never find love.

Before she could even register what was going on, Anadil had packed her life with Hester into a small, battered suitcase covered with stickers. She couldn't help but notice the many stickers eating away every surface of the suitcase. Hester's heart cracked even further. They were all the places they had been to. Together.

The Islands of Avalon.

The crackling caverns of Nottingham.

The Conservations for Wolves- CFW (founded by Hort and his bitchy girlfriend Sophie) in Bloodbrook

Malice Academy where the two met in high school.

Memories clawed at her throat, wanting to spill out.

Her three almost-kitten sized rats in a cage, Anadil pushed past Hester in the doorway, already halfway down the stairs.

One thing no one tells you about heartbreak is that it doesn't come down at once. Numbness came first. It was as if ice crept over your insides freezing them down to the core. Then comes the luxury of panic. And that was an understatement. Pure pain dragging you down. As if someone had inserted a dagger through your whole stomach. Your heart clenches so hard, you can't breathe. Finally, you just have to accept the fact that it was over. When walking past the little coffee shop you both worked shifts to make ends meet or on particular rainy days, the thin wall breaks down. All your pain is the raging river battling against the prickly little branches making a weak ass dam protecting your heart. Just one right push and it's all gone.

The click of the door and Dot running out the pavement to comfort Anadil was what brought Hester back into this world. More tears joined the never-ending stream. And more.

And more.

More.

More.

To the point Hester was sobbing at the floor like never-before. So this was what they say love feels?

Cause' she fucking hated it.
