TO SAY ARSENAL HAD A BAD START TO THE SEASON, would be an understatement. bombing out of the champions league before it even began, and losing the opening match of the season to Liverpool, the arsenal training grounds had been a bit tense. 

maddie, and her best friend kyra cooney-cross, who had transferred to arsenal around the same time maddie had, were having a greys anatomy marathon, in hopes to try and de-stress from the already very stressful 23/24 season. 

The two girls had been overjoyed when finding they would be playing at the same club, both of them playing together from youth level, and had a stronger connection then most. Maddie had been quick to move out of her older sister, steph's, spare room and buy a flat together with kyra. 

They had nearly finished all of season 7, when a message popped up on maddie's phone from someone a bit unexpected

2 hours into the convention, and both maddie and sam wanted to crawl their eyes out.

"you didn't tell me it would be this boring!" maddie whisper-yelled at sam from her seat

"i'm sorry! i didn't know!" sam quickly replied to defend herself

"oh you so did" 

maddie rolled her eyes as sam shrugged, and focused on the next speech that would make her want to kill herself. 

but the next person to walk on to the stage was a complete change of pace. instead of being a ancient 70 year old, a young, tall blonde girl walked on stage, with blue eyes maddie couldn't help but stare into. 

"who's that?" maddie quickly whispers to the australian captain next to her.

"paige bueckers" sam whispers back "college basketball"

"huh" maddie says, more to herself then sam, and goes back to looking at the basketball star. as much as she tried to help it, she couldn't help herself from staring into the girls bright blue eyes. soon enough, they made eye contact, as paige's blue eyes stared into maddie's dark brown ones.

maddie, not wanting to be the one to look away first, had her eyes stuck on the blonde girl into the very end of her speech, as paige's eyes made it back to maddie's and gave her a big smile, which made maddie's heart beat about 10 times too fast, and slight rose tint make her cheeks.

"you're staring baby catley" sam nods, looking at the girl up front

"oh shut up sam"

later that night, after majorly stalking paige on all social media platforms, maddie did something very out of her comfort zone.
