Andy stumbles through her apartment towards the incessant banging at her front door, eyes still thick with sleep, hangover looming. With one hand on her head, and her eyes almost closed, she yanks open the door growling "WHAT IS YOUR-" Only for Maya to barge past her tears still falling.
Andy immediately wakes up "Maya? What is it? What's happened? Are you ok?" Andy asks, worry evident in her tone at the state of the other woman.
Maya whirls around to face Andy "You told me there was still a chance! You made me think she might still love me! WHY? Was all just a ploy to get me to come back? Huh?!" She yells through the tears that won't seem to stop.
Andy shakes her head trying to clear the fog and make sense of what version of reality she has woken up in "What are you talking about?"
"Carina!! Maya yells.
Andy frowns "wait, you've seen Carina? When? I thought you weren't ready?" She asks, confused.
Maya flops onto the couch "this morning. I went for a run, I was running through the park, and it was like last night at first you know, I saw long brown hair from the back, made me think of Carina, then when I got closer, I got a little lost in thought, looked a little longer..." She trails off.
"Oh god it was her... did she see you?" Andy incorrectly guesses.
"No. Worse, she was with someone. A guy." She says dejectedly.
Andy sighs, "ok, that could be a friend, it could be anyone." Andy reasons.
Maya raises an eyebrow, "you and I are friends, you don't bring me coffee with a kiss." She says.
"I could if you want me to?" Andy smirks
Maya rolls her eyes and scoffs, "don't be gross, that would be like kissing my sister." she shudders.
Andy laughs before getting back to the topic at hand. "Well maybe it wasn't what you think? I mean I'm sure she would have said something otherwise when I spoke-" Andy is interrupted by Maya.
"YOU SPOKE TO HER? WHEN?" She yells.
Andy squeezes her eyes shut "um, like a few weeks before you moved back?" She squeaks.
"Well what did she say that made you think there was still a chance? That something may still be possible, because it sure as hell looked to me like she has moved on. I mean no one meets for coffee in the park this early, which means they spent the night together." Maya says getting up pacing.
"Oh god, I knew she might, and for a while I wanted her to move on. To find someone who could be who she deserved who could make her happy. But now? And seeing it... I can't Andy. God it hurt like hell seeing that this morning." She says sadly, stopping her pacing.
Andy stands in front of her holding her arms "look, don't freak out before you know there is anything to freak out about. Like I said MAYBE you didn't see what you think you did."
Maya frowns and scoffs again at Andy "yeah cus seeing someone kiss someone else is real easy to misinterpret..." She says.
Andy shrugs "you'd be surprised." She says simply.
Maya huffs "well guess I don't need to worry about calling her and what to say, or how to tell her I'm back. I definitely will not be doing that. I just have to hope to god I don't have to see her for work. Or at least if I do I can put it off for as long as possible." She mutters.
She walks towards the door "sorry for waking you - and shouting at you. I know this isn't your fault. I just got over emotional - I think it was the shock." Maya says, surprising Andy. Maya has never exactly been one for apologies before, unless there is literally no other choice.
