Kendalls POV
"So the king can only move one spot at a time?" I ask, as we sit in the booth, looking at both of our phones as Ray teaches me how to play Chess.
"Exactly"
"And where can the queen go?"
"Basically, wherever she wants" he tells me as i giggle
"Period" i say moving my queen piece up to his horse as he chuckles deeply, retreating his knight
"No way you've never played before" he laughs as do i, taking his piece regardless with my pawn as he groans playfully
"I actually used to play a bit with my dad when i was younger.. i kind of forgot most of it though, until you just retaught me" i admit to him as he shakes his head, rolling his eyes at me
"And you over here pretending to have never played before, you're kicking my ass"
"It was a long time ago-a-and you was so excited to teach me.. so i let you" i say carefully, scrunching up my face, awaiting his reaction
He just smiles a bit, leaning his shoulder into me
"You're cute" he tells me as i blush, leaning back into him and we quietly finish the game on our phones, ending it in a draw.
Hanging out with him was just so easy.. it was so chill.. and yet, my heart is still beating so fast.. and i feel my stomach flipping upside down and inside out when he looks at me.
"Can i ask you something?" He turns to me as i put down my phone, looking to him
"what?" I look to him, smiling softly at his gorgeous gooey brown eyes looking into mine
"I.." he starts, looking all nervous and adorable "wanted to know if.. maybe.. if you wanted to... you know.. make this official.. be my girl?" He asks me as i fight to bite back the smile, pushing through my features right now
"Your girl?" I ask him as he nods, playfully "like officially" i say sarcastically as he chuckles
"I got one spot left" he jokes as do i
"You know what.. i might just take it" i say, leaning into him, placing my hand on his bicep as i pull him to kiss me and he leans into it as well, kissing me softly as we laugh a bit into it.
Im so happy right now, my cheeks hurt from smiling.

*2 weeks later*
"Kendall! Did you do the homework for sister Abigails class" Ramona asks me frantically as i stand at my locker, switching my books
"Uh.." i think "yes, but..i-im not sure its any good"
"Its better than what i got, please-i completely forgot" she says as i laugh, going through my folder for it "thank you thank you so much" she says as i hand the paper to her "i'll give it back to you next period and ill guard it with my life"
"Okay girl, make sure you do" i laugh as she hugs me, walking away in a hurry as i see Ray turn the hall and the world around him just..slows down, yields to him
He's wearing his white polo with a black cardigan rolled up his forearms, beige khakis, and a green tie
"Hey babe" he says easily, as i close my locker, smiling at him
"Hi" i say as he engulfs me in his arms and i nuzzle in close to him
"I talked to my dad" he starts as i pull back to look up at him, his arms still around me
"About what?" I ask, a little nervous
"You" he says as i pull back from him, sheepishly
"What did you say about me?"
"He wants to have dinner.. get to know you" he says "..and your brother" he adds as if roll my eyes
"Oh god" i say, looking down as we fall into step next to each other, heading towards my next class
"Babe it'll be fine"
The last time i saw Rays dad.. ray was kicking me out of his house and wanted nothing more to do with me
"What does he think of me now? What about the last time i was there-does he think-"
"Nothing.. he thinks nothing" he tells me as i look up at him
"Ray.." i look down
"Ken.. you're fine.. okay, he still thinks you're great." He says "i just told him our timing was off before" he says "which it was" he says as we stop in front of my classroom
"Okay.." i let it go.. i trust him
"Ill see you for lunch" he says softly before kissing me as i kiss him back. He pulls back too quickly for my liking before Danielle whistles cheekily, walking passed us to go into the classroom as i blush and our teacher comes towards the door to close it
"Mr Thomas, get to class. Ms Johnson, lets go" Sister Xiomara crosses her arms as we laugh a bit, pulling away from each other
"Alright sister Xi, my bad" he says to her as she rolls her eyes, leaning against the door frame "see you ken"
"Bye" i say, squeezing his hand as he goes off and i head into the classroom
"Kendall" my teacher stops me "you've took a tremendous turn in the right direction.. i dont want to see your grades slip again.. especially this close to the end of the school year"
"Of course not" i assure her "im focused.. promise" i tell her "he even studies with me" i tell her as she smiles a bit, leading me into the classroom
"Okay" she says "go sit down" she instructs as i go to my seat, smiling to danielle

As i am getting on the bus after kissing Ray goodbye on the platform, i get a call from Julia
"Hey Jules" i say, sitting down, answering it "whats up?" I ask her
"Hey you out of school yet?" She asks
"uh.. can you help me with something? I want to set up something special for your brothers birthday"
"Of course what were you thinking?" I ask, intrigued
